Abia To Hunt For Fleeing Ebola Cariers

The Abia state Government has today promised that they will organize a manhunt for any potential Ebola carrier that has escaped quarantine from neighboring state, Rivers State.
With rumours surfacing in the local media that escapee suspects could be heading into the state, the Abia State Commissioner for Health, Mr. Okechukwu Ogah told Punch that he would soon tell his Rivers state compariot, to send hiim the list of names of all suspects who had contacts with the late Dr. Iyke Enemuo and later fled the state.

He revealed that these people would identity would be made known to the public, so to assist the government in their manhunt of these potential carriers.

The commissioner also rebuked the rumour that Chinyere, the sister of the late Enemuo, had fled to Abia after the death of her brother before she was tracked down and brought back to Port Harcourt .
The commissioner asked Church leaders, traditional rulers, healing homes, landlords, tenants, and other members of the public tonot sneak in people to the state with promise of healing them but report any case they come in contact with.

He said:"We will work with neighbouring states to track down the 50 people that were said to have fled from Rivers State and put them on surveillance .
We need to work together to rid Nigeria of Ebola; and if there is anybody hiding in Abia we will ask for their names and announce them on air for the public to help us track them,"he said.
Since the Ebola spread in Rivers state, Abia state has luckily avoided getting afflicted by the virus despite Rivers State just recording the second death in two weeks from the virus.
Ebola virus has killed 7 people in Nigeria and more than 1500 people in Africa.
