Boy Stripped, Hanged, Beaten To Death For Stealing Biscuits

A 12-year-old Indian boy was stripped, hanged upside-down and beaten to death in front of his parents after he admitted stealing a packet of biscuits at a hurriedly convened village court.

Chhotu Kumar was one of two youngsters accused of stealing from a shop in Thadi village in eastern Bihar's Purnia district.

They were brought before a panel of 'judges' who ordered handed down their punishment after they reportedly confessed to the crime.

According to local news reports, their parents begged the court to forgive them when their children's condition had deteriorated.

But the court refused to stop unless they paid a fine of 10,000 Rupees (£100) immediately which the parents said they were unable to do for two days because they were so poor.

As a result, the beating continued and Chhotu succumbed to his injuries.

The other boy, 13-year-old Pintu Kumar, survived but sustained severe injuries.

Police have launched an investigation against eight villagers and are planning a series of raids to arrest the suspects.

Local district superintendent of police Ajit Kumar Satyarthi said:

"The incident is quite serious as the villagers have taken law into their hands. We are not going to spare any of them."

He said the children had also taken some chewing gum and petty cash.

Pope Francis Shocked by Same-Sex Adoption Proposal

A bishop in Malta told local media that Pope Francis was "shocked" about a proposal to allow gay couples to adopt children there.

Auxiliary Bishop Charles Scicluna, an opponent of the proposal, told the Sunday Times of Malta that he discussed his concerns with the Pope on Dec. 12, and Scicluna said the Pontiff"encouraged me to speak out."

Pope Francis, who ascended to the Papacy in March, has drawn attention for a reformist platform that includes a softer tone on issues like homosexuality.

He was was named TIME's Person of the Year this month and was on the cover of leading LGBT magazine The Advocate.

But the Pope still opposes same-sex marriage and gay adoption, saying this year only that,"If a homosexual person is of good will and is in search of God, I am no one to judge."

In fact, in 2010 he said that gay adoption is a form of discrimination against children, according to a profile by the National Catholic Reporter.

"Francis signals great change while giving the same answers to the uncomfortable questions,"TIME wrote in naming Pope Francis the Person of the Year.

Relationship Tip: Things A Lady Shouldn't Do In The Presence Of A Man

Here with the help of our friends we are going to disect some few immediate turn offs men see in some ladies.

• Farting In Our Presence

Men hate this to the core, they may pretend not to but they really hate when you do it in their presence. If you doubt me, go and ask a man whom you don't know to tell you what he thinks of a lady who fart or always fart in front of him.

• Eating too much

Whenever you Ladies are in our Presence please try to control your eating habits. Not that we're too broke to buy you Food but eating without Class just because your indoors is disgusting to say the least!

• Washing of your undies (panties)

Please try to reduce the amount of times you wash your undies in our presence. Forget that popular slang which tends to say that when a man loves you, he can even wash your undies, we're not that cool with seeing someone else's undies!

• Talking too dirty

Please, have control of things you say in our presence. Don't be too naughty when it comes to your language except you want to remain a GIRLFRIEND FOR LIFE!!!!!

• Laughing excessively

Control the length you laugh in front of us. When we're not around, you can laugh and bring down the roof if you wish. I was talking to a lady and she laughed so loud that she didn't know when she polluted.

• Always watching movies

If your a Nollywood addict please, for the sake of not receiving any RED CARD, stop giving all your time to once your man is around. We need total concentration when we are talking to you

• Fighting

Never you fight in front of your man, he may feel that one day you will fight his mother.

• i Too Know attitude

Its very annoying when you always act like you know everything. When we argue about sports, romance, friends etc its cool for you to let us win sometimes as it would do you no harm than try to make sure you POV is the most correct even when its not.

The minister, who appears to be a car freak will also shell another N500 million to buy a truck for the agency.

And in her main ministry, She will spend another N50 million on staff buses.

The budget proposal shows that the Ministry of Aviation will spend over N137 million on foreign trips.

Okogie Flays Okotie’s Attack On Catholics

A retired Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Cardinal Anthony Okogie, has warned the Pastor of the Household of God Church International, Chris Okotie, against talking out of ignorance or else he will be digraced.

The cardinal was reacting to the Okotie's recent comment that "all Catholics will go to hell" in an interview with our correspondent.
Okotie, while criticising the Catholic Church in a sermon, had said the church was "a counterfeit church set up by Satan." He also said Catholics "bow to idols and crucify Jesus every Sunday when they eat bread claiming they are eating Jesus' body."

Describing Catholic as "a counterfeit church set up by Satan," Okotie said. "They (Catholics) are not Christians and have never been. They don't know Jesus. They believe that when they eat bread on Sundays, they are eating the body of Jesus. It's ritual," he added.

Okogie, however, said it was wrong for the 55-year-old pastor to speak on what he knew little or nothing about.

He said, "It is always good to talk on what you know, not on what you do not know. The problem we have today is that a lot of people put their mouth in what does not concern them because they want people to know that they too are there; that they can be reckoned with.

"I don't think that is the way to do things, no. I think the best thing is to always put your mouth where God puts it, if you don't want to be disgraced."

Okotie, who had divorced two wives, recently bought a 2014 Bespoke Edition of Rolls Royce Coupeto worth N120m to mark his 30 years as born-again Christian and 27 years as a pastor.

One of his aides said he had earlier spent N33m on a Range Rover Autobiography to mark a milestone of his ministry.

Saudi Arabia - While two women distracted the sales assistant, a six-year-old girl robbed a jewellery shop.

Startling CCTV footage shows the little girl with a colourful backpack entering the store, sneaking into the section with the jewellery. A few seconds pass, and she reapperars carrying a bundle of money, which, according to the reports, contained over 500,000 Saudi Ryal (N23,767,619).

As the girl sneaks around the shop, the women, one of whom is reportedly the girl's mother, keep talking to the sales assistant, asking him to show various items of jewellery.

The little girl approaches her mother and appears to put the money into her handbag.

After this, the three suspects leave the store, and the unsuspecting shop worker is unaware his store has been robbed.

‘I Got HIV While Looking For A Child’

My husband married me a virgin , I was HIV negative and so was he when we got married. Certain things happened to me that exposed me to unhealthy practices and I believe strongly that that was how I got HIV.

Did you do HIV tests before you got married?

Yes, we did. It was a compulsory test before getting married. We were both HIV negative.

When did you realise you had the virus?

It was in 2007. I got pregnant and was asked to do some random tests. That was how I found out I was HIV positive.

Do you know how you contracted the virus?

Sometimes, it's difficult to tell because there are so many ways through which one can get the virus but you can trace it if you vividly remember the activities you engaged in for some months and years.

Can you explain what you mean by activities one engages in?

In my case, my husband married me a virgin and like I told you earlier, I was HIV negative and so was he when we got married.

Certain things happened to me that exposed me to unhealthy practices and I believe strongly that that was how I got HIV.

Unhealthy practices?

I could not conceive when I got married. My husband was not worried because it was a young marriage, but his family members were not happy with me. They said all sorts of nasty things to me and tried to get my husband to send me out of the house. It created tension in my home. I went to different churches and herbalists within and outside Lagos. In the herbalist's home, I was given incisions with a razor blade. I received the incisions on two different occasions. Then in 2007, my mother-in-law arranged a new wife for my husband behind my back.

Did he tell you about the new wife?

No. In fact, I didn't know until much later. It was one of my friends in the village that told me what my mother-in-law had been up to. My husband just told me that he was going to our village to see his mum. I did not suspect anything. It was on that trip they introduced the new wife to him. He rejected the wife and came back to Lagos but he did not tell me anything. One day, one of my friends called me and asked me if I knew what my husband came to the village for.

She narrated the scheme to me and I confronted my husband. He said he didn't tell me because it would hurt me. He reasoned that since he didn't take the wife, I would be happy not knowing what transpired in the village.

It was that same year my in-laws wanted to get another wife for my husband that I got pregnant. That is why I counsel women that patience is everything. I got pregnant when God was ready to give me a child. It wasn't the herbalist or white garment churches that made it possible.

They gave me some very horrible concoctions to drink in those churches after praying on them.

They took me to rivers to have my bath. When I saw that all those things were not working, I stopped. Several months after, I just discovered I was pregnant. In fact, I remember vividly that at the herbalist's place, I didn't give them the blade that was used for the incisions. That was the least thing on my mind, I just wanted a baby.

How many people did you see at the herbalist each time you went?
Quite a few, mostly women and it was the quest for children that took them there. They also got incisions.

Was it with the same blade?

I'm not sure about that because we went in at separate times
How did your husband receive the news of your status?

Towards the end of 2007, I got pregnant. He felt very bad when he heard about my status. He was downcast. I thought it was the end of our marriage. I thought it was the end of everything I struggled to keep. He shocked me when he said he was not going to leave me and it wasn't the end of the world but that he needed to do the test too. He did it and he was negative. I gave birth to our child and she's negative.

Do you experience any sort of stigmatisation?

No, my status is known to only my husband and I, and he has never used it to taunt me in any way. That is how I know that he truly loves me. Of course, it took him some time to get over it, it was very gradual but he took it calmly.

We were both very sad. We went for counselling together. I told him that it was my desperation to have a child that forced me to seek alternative measures. He didn't know I went to all those places. He's very understanding and I sometimes wonder if he's for real.

What steps do you take to ensure he remains negative?

We have two children now and they are both negative. He uses a condom and whenever we are trying to procreate, we are both placed on drugs to ensure that he doesn't contract it.

I have spoken to a few women who share similar experiences with you. What advice would you give to women, especially the married ones that are yet to have children?

I wish our society would just leave couples alone and stop interfering with whether they have children or not. That is the problem, everyone feels they should have a say in one's marriage. The first step is that couples should not allow family members or friends tell them what is best for them. Also women should be patient. Just look at me, if I had been patient, all these would not have happened to me. Couples should know that God's time is the best. I also want to say that HIV does not kill. What kills is depression and laziness. Some people will say because they are HIV positive, they will stop working and start being dependent on others. Being dependent on other people will affect one's psyche, lead to depression and eventually death. In addition I will advise people, spread the news, but don't spread the virus.

Abia State University To Make Igbo Language A Compulsory Subject

Gregory University, Uturu (GUU), Abia State, is to introduce the Igbo language as a compulsory course in the second year. The news was announced at the 6th edition of the Igbo (Uturu) Cultural Carnival, held at the university, by Prof. Ihechukwu Madubuike, Director, Igbo Renaissance.

"By the next two years, the university plans to introduce the Igbo language as a compulsory subject for all students in the second year," Prof. Madubuike said.
"Whether you are Yoruba, Hausa or Efik, you must take Igbo as a compulsory subject, in spite of your area of specialisation."

He described the Igbo language as the "soul of the culture of Ndigbo," stressing that the whole culture will become extinct should the language disappear.

Earlier, the traditional ruler of Oko in Anambra state and a former Minister of Education, Igwe Laz Ekwueme, urged people of the South-East to preserve the Igbo language. He expressed regret that the language was under serious threat, as many families of Igbo origin preferred to communicate in foreign languages, especially the English language, with their children.

Prof. Barth Chukwuezi, a director in the National Commission for Museums and Monuments and Head, Educational Services and Training, noted that the Igbo language ranked among the few native languages in the country facing serious threats of possible extinction. He advised parents to use the Igbo language in their homes as a major means of communication with their offsprings.

The initiator and sponsor of the carnival said that the objective of the yearly event was to provide a platform for the transmission of Igbo culture from one generation to another, among others.

He said that the theme of this year's carnival, "Ibu anyi danda," meaning "Resilience and the indomitable spirit," of Ndigbo underscored the numerous challenges and struggles faced by the Igbo man.

Ibe noted that God had always rewarded the Igbo man with huge success in his vocations and determination to succeed in life.

The lecture on the theme was delivered by a renowned author and publisher, Mr Chinedum Ofomata.

Highlights of the ceremony included cultural dances by various dance groups from 16 states of the federation.

Different kinds of masquerades, including "Ijele" and "Atu" from Anambra took turns to perform at the event which attracted a large crowd from within and outside the country.

Why I Sliced My Husband's Penis With Knife -Banker Explains

31-year-old pregnant banker who was arrested by the lagos state police command for cutting her 34-year-old husband'spenisduring a fight at their home in Surulere has explained why she did it.
"Please, kindly judge this by yourself. As a pregnant woman, will I willingly attempt to cut off my husband's penis? I ordinarily would not have said anything. I did not realise this will escalate to this stage. The case is being handled by my lawyer at the moment.
"My husband is not a hot-tempered man but he gets angry once in a while. He lied that he washes my clothes. He only did that once or twice when I was ill. We had a disagreement that day and he beat me up. My mother came to the house and took away our son.
"Without telling anybody, I went to my hospital and was treated. I did not tell him. But when I got home, he continued to harass me. He said I must ensure his son was returned to the house.
"I was so tired and I went to sleep. But in the middle of the night, he woke me up and asked me again to produce his son. We started fighting and he was beating me. In order to escape his beating, I had to hold his penis. I wanted him to leave me alone. I held on to it until I had a chance to escape."
"Please ask him, which certificate is he even talking about? When I married my husband, he told me he graduated from the Ogun State University, Ago-Iwoye, but that he had an accident some time ago, in which his certificates were burnt," she said.
"When I married him, he did not have a job. He said he was working on a CD and all the money I made, I spent on him."
Her husband however told a different story.
He said,"My pastor had advised me against marrying her because of an encounter he had with her. Before we got married, in a meeting with Bimbo, my pastor said he asked her about her past and my wife said, 'How dare you!'
"Of course, I did not believe my pastor at the time because I was in love. But now, I rue the day I met that woman."
Lekan alleged that his wife had been behaving strangely since he lost his job. He stated that he had done everything he could to ensure that she remained happy.
"I wash her clothes including her underwear. Even without a job, I ensure that the proceeds of my gospel music CD are used to take care of her and our son," he said.
The apartment Lekan shared with his wife is a mini-flat. Asked who paid for the apartment, the man said the house belonged to his father.
According to him, he was living in a rented apartment in Ikorodu before relocating to his father's house in Surulere so that it would be easier for his wife to get to work.
Lekan explained that Bimbo was a good woman at the time.
He said,"I married her legally. We did a church wedding, went to court and did the traditional wedding. But when I lost my job, I realised that after a little disagreement, she would rain abuses on me and my family.
"She would sometimes destroy things in the house. There was a time we had a disagreement and she chased me down the street with a stick. During another disagreement, she took my HND certificate to the end of the street and dropped it beside a gate. Neighbours had to plead with her to bring it back."
He narrated to Saturday PUNCH how his wife attacked him.
"That fateful day, I was washing my wife's clothes. She reminded me that she needed some money for foodstuffs and I told her that God would provide for us. Later, she came out of the house and said she had eaten noodles and had fed our son.
"When I finished with the clothes, I was so tired because the clothes were many. I ate the leftover of her noodles. There were about three-spoonfuls left."
Lekan alleged that that did not go down well with his wife who said she still wanted to eat the leftover.
He said he had to go to the street to buy bread for her since she said she was still hungry.
He further explained that he had to go out shortly after to get some money from a salesman who handles his CD sales.
"I came home and informed my wife that I got some money from my CD. She told me that she would like to eat wheat and white soup which I usually buy for her from a restaurant. I bought that for her,"he said.
By that time, Lekan said the only thing he had eaten that day was the leftover noodles. He said the remaining money from the CD sales had been used to buy things needed in the house.
But his elder sister who had a shop nearby was to later give him N500 when she noticed that he did not look like he was feeling well.
"I went out to buy rice and when I came in and she saw me eating that, she flared up. She said I lied to her that I had no money. She was shouting but I pleaded with her to calm down so that my people around would not hear. She replied that it would not be well with the people. She abused my relations and parents.
"The following day, a Sunday, I swallowed my pride. I woke up and asked which clothes she would like to wear to church so that I could iron it with mine. When she did not answer, I left for church but came back after the workers' meeting.
"I got home and saw her preparing jollof rice but I went out to buy N60 bread and N40 beans. Trouble started again when she saw me eating that. She said I refused to give her money but I was buying food to eat. She said, 'Before I say anything now, you will go and complain to your useless family.' That was when I told her that it was her whole family that was useless. Had I known, I would have kept quiet. She took the plate of beans and poured it on my head."
But Lekan said even though many men would have pummelled such a woman, he feared he might kill her in anger. The matter died down, or so it seemed.
Around 2am, Lekan said he received a sudden and painful knock that woke him up from sleep and realised that it was from his wife.
"I knew she had decided to start her trouble again. But I did not in my wildest imagination think that she could do what she did next.
"Before I realised what she was doing, I felt a sharp pain in my manhood. I touched it and blood was gushing out. I screamed and my immediate thought was, 'Is this the way I would die?'"
Lekan pointed to a kitchen knife in a corner of his room. He said it was the weapon his wife used.
The wound inflicted on Lekan's manhood was deep but it had been stitched after he was rushed to the hospital by neighbours.
Lekan said he is not pressing charges against his wife.

UNBELIEVABLE: Man Killed Because Of Two Chickens

Two men have been apprehended by the Lagos State Police Command over the murder of one Gbadamosi Tabra, who was killed in the Epe area of the state.

According to Police authorities, Gbadamosi was killed following a disagreement over the ownership of two chickens.

Trouble started after Gbadamosi and three others, Musa Sumaila, Usman Garuba and one Yahaya; had a misunderstanding over the chickenS and the argument led to a brawl. Gbadamosi was injured in the process and was later rushed to the Epe General Hospital where he was declared dead.

The doctor on duty reported the case to the Divisional Police Officer, Epe Division, who then sent his men to the hospital and Sumaila and Garuba were said to have been arrested immediately, while Yahaya fled.

However, some of Gbadamosi's relatives protested and demanded that his body be released to them so he could be immediately buried according to Islamic rites.

A police source said, "Most times, when there is any death, especially one resulting from murder, it is the duty of the hospital to keep the corpse in the mortuary after which an autopsy will be conducted.

"However, Gbadamosi's colleagues, who are all Northern Muslims, demanded that the corpse must be given to them or they would wreak havoc. That was why the hospital called us."

Police Public Relations, Ngozi Braide, said that efforts were on to arrest Yahaya, adding that normalcy had been restored in the area.

OUTRAGE: Another Nigerian Nearly Lynched in India

The "second-class" citizen nature of Nigerians living in India was again brought to the fore this week after the police in Vashi, Mumbai, failed to register any complaint against a mob of over 100 people who nearly lynched Onouha Lucky.

The mob attack on 24-year-old Nigerian occurred after he had a petty squabble over N13 (about Rs5) with a shoeshine vendor.
Lucky asked the cobbler, identified as Sheshrao Purbe, to polish his shoes.

Purbe narrated that he usually charged N26 (about Rs 10), but the Nigerian threw Rs 5 at him.

This led to an argument and Purbe was punched hard on his face. The fight between the two soon attracted a crowd and a mob surrounded the alien.

The angry mob started slapping and punching Lucky. He ran into the Vashi railway station and hid himself in a foodstall to save himself from being lynched.

However, he had been spotted by someone, and the mob continuedbeating Luckyfor about 15 minutes before the police rescued him.

The embattled Nigerian was sent to 2-week custody on Tuesday for assaulting the cobblerbut the police failed to register any complaint against the mob of over 100 people who had attacked the Nigerian.

"Although it was wrong on part of the Nigerian to hit the cobbler, it was equally wrong on part of the mob to badly beat up the Nigerian and tear his clothes. Therefore, he too has the right to lodge a complaint against the mob, but Vashi police has not done so,"RTI activist and lawyer, Vinod Gangwal, commented.

It would be noted that the Times of India (TOI) photographer, K K Choudhary, was attacked by a few persons from the same mob which was hitting the Nigerian, as they were afraid that their illegal act would be caught on camera and published in the newspaper.

Meanwhile, the cobbler, Purbe, told TOI that the municipal hospital at Vashi have recommended an X-ray of his three front teeth which were affected after he was punched by the Nigerian.

Purbe's medical report states that his front teeth are showing 'Grade 1 mobility' (slight loosening due to the fight).

It would be recalled that another act of discrimination against Nigerians in India took place about one and a half months ago, asNigerian was beaten in Goa.

"The High Commission would decide on further course of action in this regard,"Nwadibia said over the phone.

It would be noted that India is not a really friendly place for Nigerians, recalling two attacks on our nationals in the last two months.

UNBELIEVABLE: How This Banker Withdrew N50m From Customers' Accounts (PHOTO)

The Special Fraud Unit, Ikoyi, Lagos State, has arrested an account officer with Guaranty Trust Homes, Adeola Olokojobi, in connection with a N50m fraud at the financial institution.

Prior to his arrest, Olokojobi was said to be working at the GT Homes, Saka Tinubu branch, Victoria Island.

It was revealed that the SFU had received a petition in October 2013, from a customer of the branch where Olokojobi worked.

The customer had alleged that Olokojobi, who was his account officer, had "not been forthcoming with his account balances."

A statement by the SFU Commissioner of Police, Mr. Tunde Ogunsakin, said, "The petitioner also alleged that the balance given to him was at variance with his actual balance in the account.

"An internal investigation conducted by GT Homes into the account revealed that Olokojobi in April 2013, forged an instruction, transferring N15m from the petitioner's account, to an unknown account.

"The bank also discovered other various fraudulent withdrawals made by the account officer from other customers' accounts in his care through fake transfer instructions. It amounted to over N50m.

"He said the funds were used to finance his political campaign, a proposed pure water company and purchase of an uncompleted building at Sango-Ota, Ogun State.

"Olokojobi in his confessional statement said he had fraudulently withdrawn monies amounting to N50,640,748 from the account of the customers by transferring funds into the accounts of fictitious customers and subsequently withdrawing same."

A banking and finance graduate, Olokojobi told PUNCH Metro that he joined GT Homes in 2009.
He, however, denied that he had fraudulently transferred over N50m, insisting that instead, it was N27m.

He said, "I didn't have to forge the instructions from GT homes customers. All I did was manipulate them. What happens is that they usually send instructions to the account officers by email, requesting that some money be transferred to an account of their choice. All I simply do is add another million or two to the sum the customer requested.

"It went unnoticed all this while because after using the money to do some business transactions, I always paid it back. I was into several businesses; I would buy land and resell for profit.

"I got into trouble with this one because I withdrew N15m at once from a customer's account; I didn't take it bit by bit, but I meant to pay it back. In fact, I had already started doing so before I was caught and arrested. But the police are not right in saying that the money I had withdrawn from customers amounted to N50m; it is N27m."

Ogunsakin, however, said the suspect would soon be charged to court, where he could defend himself.

Jonathan Attacks Obasanjo Again In Church

President Goodluck Jonathan has again hit back at former President Olusegun Obasanjo, saying he and his like do not own Nigeria, reiterating that Nigeria does not belong to any politician or group of politicians.

In his remarks at Christmas Day service held at the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Life Camp, Abuja, the president, who was obviously unhappy over Obasanjo's 18-page letter accusing his administration of corruption, promoting ethnicity and engaging in anti-party activity among others, said those beating the drums of war should take a look at crisis bedeviling countries like Syria, Egypt, South Sudan, DR Congo, Pakistan and the like and see the effect of war and terrorism.

While thanking the clergy men for their constant prayers, which, he said, has so far helped to save Nigeria from plunging into war, urged them not to relent. He stated that despite the numerous challenges his administration was forging ahead and striving to deliver what Nigerians duly deserve.

Re-echoing the message of Primate of the Anglican Communion, Nicolas Okoh, Jonathan said even in time of peace, neigbouring countries surrounding Nigeria were already uncomfortable with the number of Nigerians in their territory, saying that if not for diplomacy, a lot of them would have sent them packing.

He therefore, called on Nigerians to cherish the peace they are currently enjoying and not to do anything to rock the boat.

President Jonathan said: "For us at this time, especially we the politicians that think we own this country, we begin to think about next elections and doing what we ought not to do, making statement we ought not to make, writing letters we are supposed not to write.

"I call on clergymen and statesmen, who really own this country because this country belongs to our statesmen, traditional rulers, religious leaders, our men, our women, our youth. Nigeria does not belong to any politician or group of politicians. So we continue to urge to pray for this country.

"The primate mentioned a number of nations that deals with crisis.

For those who know about terrorism, countries that are infested with terror will hardly get out of it. If you look at a country like Pakistan, we even go to Pakistan to train our soldiers. In some parts of Pakistan, as we are talking now, there appears to be no government. So this country could have been worst

"Look at the incidences in Abuja, even the police headquarters was boomed, the UN building right here, in the seat of government, was boomed, maybe the next target would have been the State House.

"So we have to thank God that we have been able to bring it to a reasonable level, though we are far from getting there. There are a lot of challenges but we have to thank God.

"The primate asked if it were to be a country like Syria, what would we have done? Look at South Sudan; they were part of Sudan and they felt that they were being dominated; they have resources there, oil in part of South Sudan; they carried arms against the state. Finally, the whole world, through the UN, liberated them. In fact, within this week we will be going for Security Council meeting under the AU. My envoy just came back on Sunday from where he had conversation with them on how do we stop this madness.

"So we have to thank God, even though we still have this security challenges in our country at least we are reasonably better.

"The Primate was mentioning that Ghana, Sierra Leone can accommodate us if Nigeria was to have crisis. I was just laughing because even now with the number of Nigerians in these countries, the people are not even comfortable.

We don't have crisis but from Cameroon to Senegal, Nigerians are everywhere, that the countries, if not for political and diplomatic reasons, would have even asked some of them to leave.

Then assuming we have crisis, what would be the state? Where will you go? Is it the Atlantic Ocean? So I urge you to continue to pray.

"I also thank the religious leaders of this country; they have been praying and I believe God has been hearing our prayers. We will do our best within the period that God has asked us to occupy the positions we are occupying we will continue to work hard."

See Real-life ‘Spiderman,’ Climbs 1,000ft Tall Building Using His Bare Hands

This is the moment a daredevil climber scaled a 1,000ft building with his bare hands over a busy city.

Alain Robert, known as the French Spiderman, clung on to Shimao Horizon Center Building for dear life in Shaoxing city, East China's Zhejiang province.

Mr Robert wore a light pink shirt and climbing trousers with a small harness as he slowly pulled his way right around the building, which measures 288 metres, on Saturday.

Below, cars looked like tiny dots and views stretched right out to the horizon – but the happy chap seemed less than bothered by his precarious position.

The 51-year-old has been climbing tall buildings since the age of seven, and has scaled the Empire State Building, Chicago's Willis Tower and the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur.

And not one to rest for long, he embarked on Doha's La Cigale Hotel in 2008 and Sydney's 57-storey Lumiere skyscraper in 2010.

He also scaled the 985ft Torch tower in Qatar's capital Doha in 75 minutes without a rope or harness last year, to set a fastest time.

"Why I Converted To Islam' - Former Nollywood Actress Speaks Out

Nollywood actress Vivian Metchie, who has recently divorced, says she recently adopted the Islamic faith because she found the Christian faith too confusing.

Commenting on her choice to Yes! magazine, Ms Metchie said it was a personal decision she had to take.
"Yeah it is personal. I understand the Koran more than the bible. All of a sudden, the Christian confusion was driving me nuts. My dad was catholic, my mum was Deeper Life, I married someone in the Redeemed Church and then all of a sudden, the few religions had something bad to say about each other. I just couldn't take it anymore. A friend of mine who is close to me said that once you are grounded on the word, it wont be confusing. Unfortunately, maybe I wasn't grounded in the word, but I still could see what I see. But in my quest and study and research, I don't know: I was probably looking for peace. Yeah! That was what I was looking for and I found it in the Koran."

Vivian, the mother of 4, who has adopted Fareedah as her muslim name, explains that her decision was well received and respected by her dad who has since stopped calling her by her native name and now calls her Fareedah.

North Korean Leader Was Very Drunk While Executing His Uncle's Aides

The North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un, was "very drunk" when he ordered the execution of his uncle's two aides, after they failed to hand over lucrative business to the military.

A "Gang of 7" accompanied Kim Jong-Un alongside his father's casket two years ago. Now five of them have been fired/demoted, gone missing or been executed.

Kim was allegedly "upset" by the first deputy director of the administrative department of the state's ruling Workers' Party, Ri Ryong-ha, and deputy director in the same department, Jang Su-gil, after the two refused to respond to an order to hand over profitable business quickly enough.

The two aides were part of the inner circle of Jang Song-thaek, Kim's once powerful uncle, who was stripped of all his powers and executed just weeks later. The South Korean government knew about the inevitability of Jang's execution, according to the Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper.

"Those who were close to the two aides were surprised by their execution, and made phone calls to their friends living abroad.

The South Korean government wire tapped their phone conversations," the newspaper said.

"The South Korean government then concluded that the purge of Jang Song-thaek was inevitable, based on the testimony of people involved with the case."

Up to eight of Jang's aides were put in front of the firing squad before Kim ordered the execution of his uncle.

Jang was executed over a week ago. The official KCNA news agency said on Friday that Jang Song-thaek was guilty of "attempting to overthrow the state."

The government named Jang "despicable human scum...who was worse than a dog."

The downfall of the leading figure in the communist state is seen as the biggest political move by young leader Kim Jong-un, who succeeded his late father, Kim Jong-Il, two years ago.

Oduah's Comment On The Recommendation To Sack Her Left Journalist Bewildered

The Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah, said she would not resign. She expressed her position on Tuesday, whileinspected remodelled facilities at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

When a journalist asked Oduah if she would resign following lawmakers' recommendations to President Goodluck Jonathan, the
Minister replied:

"I think it means you don't read or you probably don't understand English because I read it too. What is there is that Mr. President can and should review. That is what they said there. Probably, you should go back to school."
Oduah's statement left a mammoth of journalists who had thronged the airport bewildered.

From Minister's point of view, the lawmakers had neither indicted her nor called on President Goodluck Jonathan to sack her. Rather, she said, the House of Representatives recommended the presidency to review some of the issues in the aviation sector.

To recall, last Thursday the House of Representatives endorsed the report of its Committee on Aviation, which had indicted Oduah over the purchase of two armoured BMW of N255 million.

The report concluded that for approving cars that were not budgeted for in 2013 and for an amount far above the approval limit of the ministry, Oduah had broken the law.

The House, therefore, asked Jonathan to decide whether Stella Oduah should continue to retain her services as a minister.

The endorsement of the report by the House elicited a prompt response from Oduah, who described the action as premeditated and with a hidden agenda.

"We are shocked and disappointed that in spite of the deluge of representations and evidences provided by the Aviation Minister, Princess Stella Adaeze Oduah and all invited stakeholders on the matter, the House would reach conclusions that have only confirmed that there was a hidden Agenda in the entire exercise from the beginning," saidJoe Obi,Odua's spokesperson.

Speaking on the remodelled airport, Oduah assured that the airport would be commissioned before the end of first quarter of 2014.

REVEALED: Saudi Plane That Blocked Abuja Airport Runway For Hours Was Carrying Bullet-Proof Cars

The Saudi Arabian plane that ran into some construction equipment at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Wednesday, December 04, 2013 and blocked the major runway for over 20 hours was carrying bullet proof cars.

It had been exclusively reported by a national daily that the Saudi cargo plane was carrying 15 Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) made in Russia, which compounded its immediate evacuation from the runway.

Reacting to this report, the Embassy of Saudi Arabia agreed that the plane originated from Saudi Arabia and was carrying bullet-proof cars made in South Africa.

In a letter, dated December 20 to LEADERSHIP, the Saudi Embassy confirmed that the Boeing 747 plane marked K 74798"was chartered by Saudi Arabia Airline, carrying bullet-proof cars and its final destination is Murtala Muhammad Airport, Lagos, Nigeria.

"The detailed description of the content of the plane is as follows: a set of bullet-proof cars weighing 58 tonnes. Another set of five bullet-proof cars weighing 42 tonnes.

"The goods were a portion of a supply contract for 10 bullet-proof cars to a government agency in Nigeria, which were to be conveyed from Sharjah (UAE) via Abuja, through Fast Forward Cargo US UAC, to Defence Industries of Nigeria (DICON), 45 Ahmadu Bello Way, Kaduna, through the company's contact person: Mr Nwajpudu Livinston/CCC. The goods were manufactured in South Africa."

The Saudis wanted the impression that the cargo plane was carrying weapons be corrected since the goods aboard the plane "were neither those considered as dangerous nor prohibited."

The Nigerian aviation and military authorities had kept mum over the contents of the Saudi cargo plane despite reports of security hardware aboard it.

FOREVER IN HISTORY: 10 Worst Quotes Of 2013 By Nigerian Public Figures

Every once in a while, Nigerian public figures are saying things that become history, unfortunately, sometimes bad and shameful history.

Here is the list of the worst 10 quotes of the year 2013 in the descending order.

10) "I am the best rapper in Nigeria. If you have an opposing opinion, now is the best time to keep it to yourself"
Rapper Yung6ix having his imagined Kendrick Lamar moment. Dear Yung6ix; make good music, put out an album, put your name out there. Maybe then we'll take you seriously.

9) "Any academic staff who fails to resume on or before December 4, 2013 automatically ceases to be a staff of the institution and vice chancellors are also directed to advertise vacancies in their institutions."

This was stated by Nyesom Wike, the Education minister, in the middle of the lingering ASUU strike.
This caused even more problems and deepened the crisis. Wike's press conference during which he was screaming at the microphone and yelling threats became an instant visual manual for government officials on how not to act in public. 8

8) "I was not a tribalist when I had a long-standing and intimate relationship with Miss Bianca Onoh, an Igbo lady…"

Femi Fani Kayode, the former aviation minister and presidential spokesman, while he had so many disastrous statements, he got more than he bargained for when in defending himself against tribalism attacks, bizarrely claimed to have had a sizzling relationship with Bianca Ojukwu, widow of the late Biafran warlord. He was forced to recant when she threatened to sue him for every penny.

7) "We have stolen billions of dollars, what did you do? We steal because you never stoned us for it."

Governor Rotimi Amechi of Rivers state makes provocative statements one after after another. His latest one was dropped at a tribute event for Nelson Mandela some weeks back, and it was both an indictment on himself as it was on his docile followers.

6) "Come, sit on my laps and I will show you a level of grace you do not understand."

According to Ese Walters, repentant adultress and misguided victim, senior Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of the Commonwealth Of Zion Assembly must have been using these cringe worthy lines to score with wide-eyed members of his female congregation. The most surprising part of this line is that it actually works. His sweet roll came to an end when she published a tell all blog post revealing the pastor's many sexcapades. Pastor Fatoyinbo is yet to deny Walters' claims. And is yet to give that robust response.

5) "As the president, I don't know him (Abu Shekau) and don't know if he is dead or alive; you journalists will know more than us. You are the ones who talk to Boko Haram."
In a presidential media chat, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan pronounced the words never to be spoken by a country's chief security officer. In denying the whereabouts (and maybe existence) of Abu Shekau, Boko Haram's point man, Mr. President took the war on terror 10 steps back.

4) "Yes, Patience Jonathan is my Jesus Christ!"
Now this would be funny if it wasn't so sad. And true. Evans Bipi of the Rivers state house of assembly was speaking from the bottom of his heart when he declared dame Patience Jonathan (aka mama Peace) his deity as she was responsible for his political career so far.

3) "I cannot categorically tell you one now… the one we are going to make use of is going to be made known by my oga at the top…"
Mr Obafaiye Shem, former Lagos state commandant of the National Security and Civil Defence Corps was asked a simple straight forward question by the hosts of Channels tv's daily breakfast show. "What is the website of the NSCDC?" It became his undoing as he went on a rambling routine that did not produce the answer to the question but succeeded in shedding light on the pathetic state of affairs of our public institutions.

2) "We do not pray for accidents but it is inevitable… we do everything to ensure that we do not have accidents, but it is an act of God."
Stella Oduah, Aviation minister addressing journalists 3 days after 16 people lost their lives in the Associated airlines crash that was ferrying the remains of Olusegun Agagu, a former aviation minister. Of course, as it turned out, God had nothing to do with this particular crash as the Accident Investigation Bureau revealed that a malfunctioning engine and a wrong call by the pilot was most likely the cause.

1) "You are a widow… go and die"
Oh dear! Edo state governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole became this year's face of insensitivity when he was recorded on video, yelling at a poor widow displaying her wares illegally by the roadside to go and die. He later had tea with his victim and rewarded her generously but still, that image lingers.

He has a multi-million naira endorsement with energy drink Power Fist, a deal with the makers of the Virgin Colour soft drink and another huge deal with a popular jeweller. Another endorsement which runs into millions is with Chris Aire, with D'banj acting as the face of his watches. He collects between 5 million naira ($31,500) and 7 million naira ($44,200) as performance fee for local gigs, and even bigger fees across the rest of Africa and in the US and the UK. Like his old boss, Don Jazzy, D'banj also bagged a recording deal with Kanye West's G.O.O.D Music. D'banj once said, "I work hard so that money, awards, endorsements, bookings and kokolets chase me."

* Don Jazzy: Real name Michael Enebeli, Don Jazzy, is the founder of now defunct Mo'Hits and now runs Mavin Records. He is one of the most sought after producers in Nigeria. As a child he was a member of Good Morning Kids, a group created by his father. He is known for his business dexterity, building Mo'Hits from scratch to become one of the biggest entertainment empires in the country. He recently signed a recording deal with Kanye West - a move that not only boosted his reputation as an entertainer, but also his wealth.

* P- Square: Singing and dancing duo Peter and Paul Okoye won the KORA award for Best Africa Artiste in 2010, collecting a $1 million prize in the process. Shortly after, the duo got an endorsement deal with Globacom telecommunications worth about 240 million naira ($1.5 million) for four years. Their seven-city American tour in 2010 earned them a whopping $1m and have also built a house valued at 300 million naira ($1.9 million). They own Rayfield Hotel, Jos, and two multi-million naira factories in the same city, where they built a multimillion naira bakery and sachet water companies for their parents. The bulk of their wealth comes from concerts, especially in Africa, where they charge about 2 million naira ($12,600) per show. They have sold over 14 million copies of their CDs since 2005.

* Banky W: Banky W has become one of the richest entertainers in the industry, making the bulk of his wealth from gigs, where he charges between 2.5 million naira ($15,800) and 3 million naira ($19,000) per show and performs three to four times each week. A brand ambassador of Estisalat, one of Nigeria's telecommunications giants, he also featured in Coca Cola-Nigeria's World Cup theme song and Microsoft's Anti-cyber Crime Initiative. An entrepreneur, Banky W has invested heavily in various businesses and also doubles as a philanthropist, founding the Mr. Capable Foundation, where he provides tuition fees for indigent and brilliant students. He is also the force behind EME music which has, arguably, the Nigeria's fastest rising artiste (Whizkid) under the label.
