Actor Paul Walker — a self-styled adrenaline junkie best known for his role in "The Fast and the Furious" movies — was killed Saturday in a fiery single-car wreck in Southern California.

The 40-year-old Walker was riding in a Porsche GT about 3:30 p.m. when the driver lost control and slammed into a post or a tree in Santa Clarita, TMZ.com reported.

Firefighters spray water on the wreckage of the Porsche that crashed in Valencia, Calif., on Saturday.

Moments later, the car burst into flames.

I'm almost to tears. Hurts so much.

It was not clear what caused the accident, authorities said.

Walker was in Santa Clarita, about 30 miles north of Los Angeles, for a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide.

"
"It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident," read a message posted on his Facebook page. "He was a passenger in a friend's car, in which both lost their lives. We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news."

One witness said he tried to put the fire out and recognized Walker's body inside,according to the Santa Clarita Valley Signal.

Another spectator at the crash site said Walker had been taking a "joyride" with a close friend.

"Him and his buddy, his brother in arms at heart just decided to joyride, take a spin. Something we all do. We're all car enthusiasts,"said Antonio Holmes, who said he was a friend of Walker's.

"We're all here driving, enjoying each other, and God must've needed help."

Holmes told the Valley Signal that he and others tried in vain to put out the flames from the car.

"We all ran around and jumped in cars and grabbed fire extinguishers and immediately went to the vehicle,"Holmes said."It was engulfed in flames. There was nothing. They were trapped. Employees, friends of the shop. We tried. We tried. We went through fire extinguishers."

The crash occurred on Rye Canyon Loop, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Responding deputies found the vehicle "engulfed in flames," according to a sheriff's department release.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze — and then found two victims in the charred wreckage. They were pronounced dead on the scene.

The agency would not release the victims' names — or confirm whether Walker was one of them.

"All of us at Universal are heartbroken,"Universal Pictures, the studio behind"The Fast the Furious"franchise, said in a statement following Walker's death.

"Paul was truly one of the most beloved and respected members of our studio family for 14 years, and this loss is devastating to us, to everyone involved with the FAST AND FURIOUS films, and to countless fans."

In a grim twist, Walker's death came just days after he was the victim of an online death hoax.

Several celebs and journalists took to Twitter hoping the new reports were another sick joke.

"Praying this Paul Walker story is not true," wrote longtime NBA reporter Chris Palmer.

"Might have to watch The Fast&The Furious tonight. Gonna be a tear in my eye. RIP Paul Walker."

Walker, who was raised a Mormon in the Los Angeles suburb of Sunland-Tujunga, entered show business when he was just a toddler. He scored roles in popular TV shows, including "Highway to Heaven," and "Who's the Boss?"

His film career took off after he snagged a supporting role in the 1999 hit "Varsity Blues."

Walker leaves behind a daughter, Meadow, 15, who moved to California from Hawaii a few years ago to be closer to her dad.In his last tweet on Twitter, Walker posted a photo of him standing with co-stars Vin Diesel and Tyrese Gibson.

"The boys are back," read the Friday message hyping the release of "Fast and Furious 7."

ABU ASUU Chair: "President Has No Power To Sack Us... But We're Waitning For HIS Dismissal"

Even the President cannot relieve university lecturers of their duties, the Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria chapter, Dr. Muhammad Kabir Aliyu, said yesterday.

No minister, and even no the President, hold the power to hire or fire, Mr. Aliyu said.

"Nobody can tell us to go back to work.

"If they think they can get other lecturers, let them go and get them.

"We are not going back and we are ready to be dismissed by the minister. But even the President cannot sack us. Even the President has no place in the university when it comes to employment issues.

"During the military era, General Babangida tried what this man[Goodluck Jonathan]is saying, but did not succeed. And let us see how they would succeed.

"Tell them to do the right thing, but if they feel that they can threaten us, let them go ahead and see where it will take them," Dr. Aliyu said.

Lecturers of the university were unanimous in condemning the statement credited to the minister for education, Mr. Nyemson Wike, that university lecturers who refused to return to work on or before December 4 would be sacked.

"It is unfortunate that these are the types of people we have as leaders. The welfare of the citizens is not their business. Because they learnt that we have voted for an end to the strike they thought that they can intimidate us," Dr. Aliyu added.

"I was one of those that voted for an end to the strike, but I would not obey the directive, and let us see what would happen. They have starved us for over four months, and now they are threatening us.

Saheed drags Fathia to court over name

Few years ago, Saheed Balogun reportedly said he would soon stop his ex wife, Fathia Balogun, from using his name.

Saheed was quoted to have said

"She is my ex. As for my name that she is still answering, the deed will be done soon. The Nigerian law says that after three or four years, you can do something about it. If somebody wants to keep my name, what of the new person coming in? This has nothing to do with grudges."

And now, it looks as if Saheed is set to do something about his threat.

A reliable source informed Saturday Beats that the actor had taken his ex to court insisting that she drop his name.

Recall also that Fathia had also reportedly boasted in an interview last year, that nobody could stop her from using her name.

Fathia had said, "I laugh, my name is Fathia Balogun and it's going to remain Balogun; nobody can ever change that and nobody can stop me from answering that name."

When Saturday Beats contacted Saheed over the recent development, the actor chose to be evasive.

"I have told you that I don't like talking about my private life. I will talk about my new project. Go and meet those people telling you about this story," he said.

Actress, Mimi Orjiekwe, tells 'Nonye Ben-Nwankwo about her life and why she got engaged to her colleague

Somehow, you just came into the industry and hit fame, how did you do it?

It is just God's doing. Anything He says you will be today is what you will be. It is about hard work as well. But then, I didn't just come into the industry. I was here some years back but I stepped out after a while.

Why?

I had to do my national youth service. Before I left, I had done some movies. I came back last year. Since I came back, I have been very busy. Perhaps that is why I have been noticed. I have been doing so many good movies. I have met and worked with different producers and directors.

But don't you think the time you were away sort of pulled you back?

I don't think so. Apart from my NYSC, I had to start my Master's programme. I served at NAFDAC and I got a lot of experience. I had to know how to do other things. After the movies, what else? You need to be educated. You don't need to focus only on acting. There are some other things you can achieve in life. You can never know what is inside of you. I come from a family where education is a must.

What did you study to serve at NAFDAC?

I studied Business Administration. I served under the administrative arm of the agency.

Why did you choose acting, to be in the spotlight?

No, it wasn't that. When I was much younger, I loved parties and anything that had to do with red carpet. My dad was a member of Rotary Club and we always had parties. I love the social life. I was a beauty queen in Enugu in 2008. I was Miss NYSC in camp.

How did you come into the industry?

I met a director during the time I was a beauty queen in Enugu who happened to be one of the judges in that beauty contest. He decided to sign me on as an actress. That was how I started.

But you eventually had a spat with him?

Yes. He made me sign a contract. I was so young. I was excited when he told me I was going to be an actress. But I signed the contract not knowing what it entailed. He had to manage me. I got into the industry and I found out that other actresses didn't sign any contract. I felt abused and I was upset. I told him that the contract would not work. That was majorly the reason I had to leave the industry in the first place. I decided to focus on my education. I now know how to manage my life.

What else was stipulated in the contract?

I think he was meant to take 40 per cent of whatever I earned while I take 60 per cent. He had to be the one to tell me the jobs I should take. He had to be aware of all my jobs. All this didn't help me at all. I did a couple of movies with him and I left.

That means you didn't wait for the contract to expire?

The contract has expired. I was shooting in Asaba last year and he came on set to harass me. I had to call my lawyer. It was a five-year contract and I believe it has expired now. So many marketers and producers were against him.

So who is this director?

He is called Nonso Ekene Okonkwo.

How has it been since you came back?

It has been wonderful. I have been working nonstop. At the moment, I am shooting in Enugu. The stress is much but I still thank God. I am grateful.

You must really love the spotlight, otherwise, how come you participated in beauty contests not just once but twice?

I meet a lot of people and they tell me that I have the height advantage; I am 5 ft, 11. They tell me I have good looks. A lot of people would always encourage me. I was never an office girl. I never liked eight to five job.

Why didn't you take it a step further to a bigger platform like Miss Nigeria or Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria contest?

I don't think I was interested anymore. I had interest a little bit. I know the Bruce's family. They are my friends. If I had a chance, I probably would have contested.

It is widely believed that beauty queens are promiscuous…

It is not true because I am not promiscuous. I had a manager who guided me. I was too young then. My mum would always tell me to run away any time a man came close to me. I don't know about beauty queens of nowadays. It is just a wrong impression about the queens.

So how do you cope with male advances?

I have accepted it as part of my life and I also live a very simple and free life. I laugh with anybody and even joke with the shoemaker. The sooner you take life simple the better. You just greet the guy and go. I don't have to be rude. You smile with people and they appreciate you. You just have to be nice to them.

We guess you enjoy the advances?

I enjoy the appreciation. I like it when people tell me about my movie. I appreciate it when they tell me I act well. It is a blessing. But some days, I am not in the mood but I have to work on it. Even when you are not in the mood to talk to anybody, you have to pretend. Don't push people away.

Along the line, your engagement to Tinsel actor, Charles, made headlines; was that the intention?

It wasn't my intention for it to become a public thing. When I decided to go on a holiday to Zanzibar, I decided to take some people along and my boyfriend also decided to come along. My birthday fell in that period. Some actresses and actors were there. The time my boyfriend proposed, so many people took the pictures and used it as their DP on their phones. A blogger was there too and he was busy doing his job. I didn't tell anybody to take picture. Before I knew it, people were calling me from Nigeria.

When is the wedding?

We are working on it. I know it will
be soon.

Some of your colleagues claim they are too busy to plan their weddings and that is why they are still single, is that so in your own case?

I don't blame anybody that says that. It is not easy. I always say 'soon' because I have it in mind. We have to prepare. Before you know it, you might be carried away with your career. However, in everything you do, you must consider your private life. You must have kids. You must be happy. We are planning seriously towards that.

At this stage your career is blossoming, don't you think marriage would tie you down?

No way. What makes a super woman is the ability to handle her marriage, social life, kids and her job at the same time. I am going to be a super woman. Fortunately, my fiancé is an actor and he understands the nature of the job.

Where did you meet Charles, your fiancé?

I met that boy when a friend took me to another friend's get together. We just greeted and that was it. I had a meeting with Mnet people that period. I walked into the Tinsel office and I met him. He was with Tinsel then. We became friends from then till now.

Your line of duty comes with scandals; can you shoulder the responsibilities that come with it?

It is difficult. Sometimes, it blows your mind. Sometimes, the stories are told upside down. Some people think I have done bad getting engaged to a fellow actor. They feel I am deceiving myself. So many things have been said but I don't care. I am happy. Some people wonder how I got the money for the trip. But this is what I signed for. I signed to sell my personal life to the public. It is not a reality show but the public always want to know what you are doing. The gist will always go round. You just have to deal with it.
You were accused of borrowing money from your colleague Lilian.

How come you didn't pay her back the N200, 000 you collected from her?

I see that story as very senseless, stupid and wicked. I am very proud. God blessed me. I am bigger than N200, 000. If I owe you, expectedly, you should be my friend. And then, you ought to call me on the phone and we talk about it. You didn't need to take it to the public. Anybody who would do that is an enemy. It is wicked.

But do you owe her?

I do not owe anybody. I invited her to come and meet my producer on the set and I wouldn't know what happened between them. Now, she turned it around and even went as far as writing it on her Facebook wall that she lent me some money. That is a false accusation. A single mother who would do that is an enemy. I can never be so wicked to owe a single mother. The producer told me he kept in touch with her and she had no reason to get me involved. This girl sells clothes in Port Harcourt and I buy clothes from her worth more than the money she is talking about. I think she is just jealous and she wants people to perceive me in a bad light. It is ruthless and downgrading for her.

So has the matter died down?

The matter is still on but it is not a problem to me. As far as I am concerned, it is a nonsense talk. I don't have a quarrel with her. If she were a mega star, I would fight but she is nobody. There is no need for me to fight with her.

Up and coming actress cum model, Queeneth Hilbert, is definitely one to look out for. Though her foray into the entertainment industry is relatively short, this actress who has been tipped to be the next big 'thing' in Nollywood is taking the bull by the horn. In this interview with MERCY MICHAEL, the half-Lebanese, half-Nigerian, opens up on controversies, relationship as well as her take on nudity roles.

Excerpts:

THERE are you from? I am from Nigeria.

What part of Nigeria are you from?
I think the fact that I said I'm from Nigeria is okay. Anyway my father is Lebanese while my mother is from Ebonyi State.

Barely two years into Nigerian movie industry, your profile, has been on a steady rise. What is it that has made you become the toast of every producer?

I would say my personality. It's God's favour upon me. Some say my complexion. Some say my height. Some say because I'm real. Others say I'm blunt. All I know is that I have been a very lucky girl, right from birth.

How many years of modeling career have you had?

I have been into modeling for six years now.

Will you be dumping modeling for acting?

I'm still into modeling. The fact that I'm into acting now doesn't mean if I get a modeling job I wouldn't do it. Although I got a lot of modeling jobs last year, I was just so preoccupied with a lot of things. I will get back into modeling as from next year.

You once said in an interview that Tonto Dikeh is the reason you started acting. How true is it?

No, it's not true. I didn't say so. I granted and interview and all of a sudden, I started seeing on Google that I said Tonto is the reason I started acting. Tonto Dikeh didn't inspire me to act. I've always loved Nollywood movies and I love some of the A-list actresses, but seriously, the person that inspired me, doesn't come from Nollywood.

Who is that person?

Angelina Jolie first and foremost, followed by Jessica Alba.

In the same interview you said some nice things about Tonto but you didn't mince words to say that you are not friends with Mercy Johnson…

Why should I be afraid to say that? For Tonto yes, she's real.

But it's not news that Tonto and Mercy are not friends. Is that the reason you don't like Mercy Johnson?

I like all my colleagues. They are my friends. I don't have anything against any of them. I just said I am not that close to Mercy Johnson because we don't match. Not like we are enemies, we are not. We are colleagues. When we are on set, we do our work and we go away. That there is just nothing to discuss about doesn't mean I have anything against her.

What is it exactly you don't like about her?

Oh my God! Who says I don't like Mercy Johnson. Why is everybody saying I don't like Mercy Johnson? I like Mercy Johnson. I don't have anything against her, okay! Everybody has his or her character, you understand me. Maybe she doesn't even like me too, I don't care. The same way people are feeling I don't like her is the same way other people might feel about me but I don't care. Everybody mustn't like you. So I don't have anything against Mercy Johnson. I like Mercy Johnson the same way I like Tonto Dikeh. And I told you they are my colleagues.

Something must have endeared you to Tonto. What could it be?

She's real and then we share similar traits. I don't give a damn and she doesn't give a damn.

Talking about being controversial, is it something you picked from Tonto or you have always been like that too?

I've always been like that all my life. Everything about me has always been different. People do things, nobody talks about them but when Queeneth does it, everybody talks about it.

Would you mind acting seminude, or being specific, on pant and bra?

I don't mind, if the money is right, why not? The problem with Nigerians is that most of us are hypocrites. This same pant and bra is the reason some of them buy or rent Hollywood movies. What is wrong in someone being free, doing his or her job? Some actresses would want to act a role but they will be like, I don't want to be criticized. I don't believe in all that. I get a script and if it involves acting seminude, as long as it's an integral part of the story, why not? If I decide to take up a seminude role tomorrow I know some people will not like it. I am not doing it for anybody to like it. I am doing my job. I am building my own profile. I don't see anything wrong in acting in pants and bra.

Are you not bothered that that might scare the guys away from asking your hand in marriage?

Are you kidding me? Oh my God! A man that was meant for me by God will look away because of the controversies. Most of the time, 70 percent of the fame we have, comes with controversies. If there is no controversy then there is no fame. That is how it has been, whether Bollywood, Hollywood or Nollywood. If you want to be a celebrity, people must talk about you, good or bad, they are all controversies. If a man doesn't want to ask my hand in marriage because of my controversial nature, he can take a walk. There are many guys out there so he can just take the door and create space for other people to come in. It is as simple as that.

I have seen Angelina Jolie act nude…

If I were in Hollywood I would do same. And God knows in the next two, three years, I am going to shoot in Hollywood.

Has anyone approached you yet?

Yeah, I have gotten one proposal. It is supposed to be in Paris. A friend of mine wants to produce a movie but we are still discussing about the actors to be used because it actually has a lot to do about a guy and a girl.

We have a lot of hunky actors in Nollywood, if you were to pick from OC Ukeje, Blossom Chukwu, Joseph Benjamin and IK Ogbonna to act nude with who will that be?

Blossom, I don't know, OC Ukeje, no, not my type. Joseph Benjamin no, he's not my type. IK Ogbonna no, he's too fair and he acts like everybody is all up on him. I don't like dragging my man. You know Gbenro of Tinsel. I would go with Gbenro of Tinsel. I wouldn't mind playing that kind of role with Gbenro.

Tell us about your kind of man?

My kind of man has to be gentle, God fearing, understanding, loving and caring. He mustn't be selfish. My kind of man doesn't have anything to do with complexion, or height. It doesn't have anything to do with looks basically. It doesn't matter as far as we click.

Your complexion definitely puts you on the spot. How do you handle male attention?

I have received so many friend requests on Facebook and Twitter; so many. Someone said asked me how much will he have to pay me to have his baby and I was like what? I told him he is crazy and he said "Yes, I am crazy but I am damn serious. So reply me when you are done thinking about it?" I've learnt to cope with it. I know how to handle them.

So who is the lucky guy in your life?

No comment. I don't want to talk about that for now. I would talk about it, but not now.

With your look you are not likely to be cast for a 'dirty role'. Have you ever done such role before?

Of course I have. The movie is titled My daughter, My Jewel. People say certain people can't do epic movies, but the fact is that it is far from the truth. It's not about your complexion. I have done My Daughter, My Jewel. There is another movie. It's actually in Igbo language it's coming out very soon. It's called Ukegbe Oyinbo 1&2. I have also done Adaeze 3 & 4. I know everybody will be surprised that I speak Igbo. But that is one thing about me, I can interpret any role. That is how to be a consummate actor.

We all know that cinema is the new Nollywood. Any plans to debut into the cinema soon?

I did a movie that was supposed to go into cinema but something happened. I am not going to talk about it. My colleague might get offended but something happened. One of our colleagues left the set, we couldn't finish the job. The producer is trying to patch it up somehow. It will soon enter the cinema. I did it earlier this year. That should be around March. And for next year, I've gotten like five cinema scripts.

What was it like growing up without a father?

I never said I grew up without a father. That is one of the problems I have with granting interviews. They interview you, you say something and they say something else. I never said I grew up without a father. I am cool with my father and mother I only said I spent most of my growing up years with my mom and there is a reason for that. But I am cool with my father. In fact we have a father-daughter relationship.

When did you realise you had it in you to act?

I've always knew I had it in me because sometimes, I just talk to the mirror. And I am so in love with movies. I love watching movies. And when I watch them I learn from them.

What was the last movie you saw?

Bad Teacher, acted by Cameron Daiz. She's is one of my favourite actresses.

Considering that you are not earning so much right now from acting, what other thing do you do to earn a living?

Actually, one thing about me is, I'm this kind of person who is contended with whatever I have. I don't mind doing one job in a year as long as the story is good and believe me; I don't earn little like you think. When a producer calls me on the phone, I give him my price. We talk about it. If it doesn't work out, fine. If it's works out, I go do the job. I'm not saying I am that expensive, although I have a feeling that next year, the fee might be higher. Let's just keep our fingers crossed. And also some of my friends import jewelries and wrist watches for me. Most times is just my friend's that comes around to buy them. Most times, they can't even wait for them to land.

Between modeling and acting which would you say has been more rewarding for you?

The truth is, both of them are. I will say more of modeling but acting, from next year, believe me, it will be very rewarding for me and fulfilling. I have so many plans.

Tell us about growing up?

Growing up, I was very quiet, I kept to myself. I avoid trouble a lot but that doesn't mean if trouble comes I wouldn't know how to handle it.

Being an actress must have striped your of some of your freedom. How have you been coping?

Well, I'm coping. I have always known it will be like this. I think I am cool with it. But recently, I threw caution to the wind, precisely two weeks ago. I was so hungry; I needed to eat chicken and chips. We were passing around Ikeja because I came from VI to Ikeja. So I told my friend, I was going to walk into an eatery and get it but she was said I was joking. She said I should wait in the car that she will go and get it for me but I insisted that I would get it myself. I went in, got it myself, sat there and ate everything.

People came around and I took pictures with them. Most of the children there were like, "Mummy, see Aunty Selina".

Who gave you your first kiss in a movie?

I think it was either John Dumelo or Yul Edochie. I can't remember.

Off screen, who would you kiss between those two?

John Dumelo

What was the best gift you ever got on your birthday?

I think the best gift I have ever got, was a friend giving me a surprise treat. At a time I had lost hope that I wasn't going to have a very good birthday. He called me and was like where are you, come and meet me up. We flew to Ghana, we had fun. And then he got me a wonderful, sweet ride. Oh my God, you need to see the ride.

How old were you celebrating?

I was celebrating 19

A Florida-based firm has designed a floating city called Freedom Ship that would spend its entire time at sea.
The vessel is a mile long, 25-storeys-high and has enough room for 50,000 permanent residents.
It features schools, hospitals, art galleries, shops, parks, an aquarium, casino and even an art gallery as well as an airport on the roof and a docking bay at the rear.
Designed by the Florida-based Freedom Ship International (FSI), the floating city is set to cost $10 billion and weigh 2.7 million tonnes – making it too large to ever dock.
The ship would spend the whole time at sea, circling the globe once every two years, powered by solar and wave energy
The designs also include a shopping centre covering 1.7 million square foot. Designed by Freedom Ship International (FSI), the vessel is set to cost $10 billion and would weigh 2.7 million tonnes – meaning it would be too big to ever enter a port.
This means the ocean community would spend the whole time at sea, circling the globe twice a year. During this time, FSI claim the ship would spend 70 per cent offshore major cities and 30 per cent moving between countries.
The route would take the ship from the east coast of the U.S across the Atlantic Ocean into Europe, passing Italy before looping back and sailing around Africa, across to Australia, heading north into Asia before spending the end of the year on the west coast of America and into South America.
In addition to the permanent residents, the Freedom Ship would also have room for an extra 30,000 daily visitors, 20,000 crew and 10,000 overnight guests.

The Freedom Ship, concept pictured, is a mile long, 25 storeys high and features schools, hospitals, businesses, parks, promenades, an art gallery, a shopping centre, casino and airport on the roof.
The ship would spend the whole time at sea, circling the globe twice a year.
The planned route, pictured, would take the ship from the east coast of the U.S across the Atlantic into Europe, passing Italy before looping back and sailing around Africa and across to Australia. It would then travel into Asia before spending the end of the year on the west coast of the U.S and South America
The airport, on the ship's top deck, would serve private and small commercial aircraft carrying up to 40 passengers each.
The whole ship will be 750ft wide, 350ft tall and 4,500 ft long – four times longer than the Queen Mary II cruise ship. Roger M Gooch, director and vice-president of Freedom Ship International said:
"The Freedom Ship will be the largest vessel ever built, and the first ever floating city.
This will be a very heavily capitalised project and the global economy in the last few years hasn't been too inviting for unproven progressive projects like ours.
In addition to 50,000 permanent residents, the Freedom Ship would also have room for an extra 30,000 daily visitors, 20,000 crew and 10,000 overnight guests
The airport, on the ship's top deck, pictured, would serve private and small commercial aircraft carrying up to 40 passengers each. It could also be used to fly supplies to the ship. Aircraft could land and takeoff even when the ship is moving

Power for the vessel would come from various sources including wave and solar power and on-board generators.
Visitors will be able to leave the ship, either by plane or boat, to visit cities and countries where the ship will also pick up supplies as and when needed.
The vessel, concept pictured, is just an idea at the moment until the Florida-based designers can raise at least $1 billion to start construction. The company said following a hiatus, and a drop in the global economy, it has started receiving interest in the ship again and hopes to raise this funding soon

Weeks ago Tee-Billz mentioned in an interview that he was planning for a small wedding. However, last weekend Lagos saw the wedding which now records as one of the most star-studded weddings in recent times.
The traditional wedding ceremony of popular singer, Tiwa Savage and her manager/hubby, Tunji 'Tee-Billz' Balogun may have gulped nothing less than N30m, by NET's calculation.
Starting with the invitation cards, For Tiwa's personality and status in the society, there's no doubt that the couple would have been looking at over a thousand guests. The Fuchsia and gold coloured invitation card came with small access cards for entry into the venue, all packed in a beautifully designed paper bag. 500 pieces of the package costing an average of N5,000 each amounts to N2.5million. Courier company, Compton Green Express delivered the bag to the guests, and that's a service that the couple would have had to pay for too.
Except for a few glitches, it was a well-organized wedding by the wedding design and planning outfit,
The Wedding Company. This was the same company that handled musician Darey Art Alade's wedding to wife Deola as well as Basketmouth's wedding to Elsie. A former client of the company tells an online media that the company's fee is related to the details and how classy the clients want it.
For Tiwa/Tee-Billz, putting down a staggering figure of N6million to achieve a memorable day wasn't a problem at all.
Although the official wedding colours were fuchsia and gold, most of the hall was beautifully lit with white and orange. Uche Majekodunmi's Newton and David were hired to do the decorations of the hall. The award winning event design and décor company were paid N2m for tuning up the ambience of the hall.
The venue of the wedding, Ark Vicinity in Lekki, Lagos is fast becoming one of the most patronized event centres in Lagos.
This was the same venue where Peter Okoye of Psquare wedded his wife Lola Omotayo just the previous week. With its proximity to a 5-Star hotel, Vantage Hotel and the exquisite Lekki Beach, insiders claim a day's rent of the venue could go for up to N3.5million depending on the negotiation.
It may amaze you to know that the beautiful white and creamy Tiwa/Tee-Billz wedding cake costs well over N2m. Outrageous, right? Welcome to the world of celebrity cake makers.
The main company responsible for providing the varieties of delicacies was Morenike Okupe's Malas Foods Catering Services and then there were other small companies that provided the cannapes, ice creams and barbecues. All sorts of drinks were available, from soft drinks, to beer, spirits, wines, to champagnes; all totalling up to N5m with food inclusive.
Unlike other traditions, the ceremonial gifts in the Yoruba tradition is usually not so expensive. The family brought a lot of food stuff which included tubers of yam, plantain, garri, etc. Boxes of clothing items were also presented amongst others; all of these totalling up to N800,000 including the bride price which was not disclosed.
When King Sunny Ade and his band come to play, you know there's no dull moment. As the main entertainer for the occasion, the Juju musician serenaded the guests as well as the couple. Let's not forget comedian/MC who held down the occasion for up to eight hours.
Although sources suggest the services of KSA and Seyi Law may have been complimentary or greatly discounted, on a normal day their charges could amount to about N5million and N1million respectively.
Through the course of the entire wedding, the couple had a change of clothes three different times.
Not only did they change clothes, shoes and accessories were also changed. Parents, family and close friends were also catered for as they almost all dressed uniformly in the gold-coloured lace aso-ebi. The clothing items on the couple, parents and family, may well cost between a million to 1.5 million, accessories inclusive.
Private security company, 'Bold Events' were in charge at the venue. While some were at the doors and gates fully dressed with military-type gears and gadgets, a few were however dressed in black suits and dark shades, protecting the couple from undesired guests and photographers alike. The cost of security from the company could be up to N500k.
Dance hall artiste General Pipe came with his wife and few months old baby. The 'Champion' singer wrapped the baby in 'Michael Jackson blanket style' in a bid to stop the press from taking shots of the baby.
There was a Reign of exotic cars, The parking lot was almost like the venue of a car show as the invited guests came in different brands of classy and exotic cars. The Mavin crew led by Don Jazzy came in a Bentley, Escalade and a Carrera S sport car. Dayo 'D1' Adeneye came in his Bentley with a customized number and Florence Ita-Giwa was driven to the venue in wine coloured Bentley. There were also eye-popping cars like Ferrari, Range Sports, G Wagons and lots of other expensive automobiles.
Tiwa's dad wasn't happy with the course of wedding, Tiwa Savage's father appeared not to be happy with the course of the wedding.
Sources say he was seen complaining to a member of his family how the groom's family seems to have hijacked the whole ceremony. His anger was further expressed as he went round asking some of the guests from the grooms side to move from their tables and to look for seats elsewhere.
Apart from King Sunny Ade who was the main entertainer for the event, a few of the artistes who were also present were given a few minutes to do their thing. Being called up on stage, the artistes all mounted the stage and performed in a single row, one after the other. First up were Dr SID and Don Jazzy, and then Banky W, Iyanya, Lynxxx, Davido, Chuddy K and finally Seyi Shay.

Man Tortures Mouse For Eating Money

A man in Gaza, Palestine, is being accused of an unbelievably horrible act of animal cruelty — tying a mouse's limbs to a pole and torturing it.

But the photo that allegedly documents the act is likely a hoax.

According to a story being reported on various news sites, an unidentified man supposedly stashed Israeli shekels in his closet, only to discover a hungry mouse had chewed up about $170 worth of cash.

The man allegedly was so angry that he chose to get even in a manner even more extreme than an excessively violent Tom & Jerry cartoon: by stringing the mouse's limbs with rope to a pole, News.com.au reported.

The man allegedly photographed the torture and posted it on Facebook, where it was picked up by Gulf News.

Reaction to the photo on the website has been mixed. Some people are offended, while others point out that the man's actions will not deter other hungry mice.

One man suggested that the "sick ones" were the people more concerned with "a rat" than the plight of the Palestinian people.

However, it's most likely the photo and the story are complete fabrications, since the same photo was used in various memes six months ago, including one featuring Grumpy Cat.

The alleged mouse money munching comes at a time when money is very tight in Gaza, in part because the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) has delayed cashing in public worker salaries for several months in the West Bank due to shortages brought about in part by Israeli withholding of Palestinian funds, Sia.Az reported.

Even if the pic is fake, mouse torture is very real.

In July, Andre Yankey, a 19-year-old personal trainer in London, pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal after making a homemade film where he used a power tool to slice open a mouse and drill into its eye, the Daily Mail reported.

In November, 2011, two German women paid to record a fetish film of themselves stomping on mice while dressed in high-heels were charged with animal cruelty.

Prostitute Dies During Love Making Resurrects In Coffin

A prostitute in Bulowayo, Zimbabwe, is bringing new meaning to the term "killer s*x" after authorities thought she died during an encounter with a customer.
However, she came back to life just as officials placed her in a metal coffin.

The incident occurred last week at the Manor Hotel and the escort, later identified as MaNdlo, reportedly collapsed and died while having s*x with a client.

But when authorities came to collect the body of the prostitute and put it in a steel coffin, she suddenly woke up in a panic screaming, "You want to kill me!" at the officers.

Seeing a woman presumed to be dead spring back to life shocked onlookers, many of whom ran away in fear.

"It was like a movie," a source said. "People were running away in different directions. It was a scary incident because we were all convinced that she had died because she was just cold. Miracles surely do happen."

MaNdlo was taken home by another working girl and the unidentified John who allegedly "killed" her reportedly sneaked out of the hotel moments after the cops had left.

20-Year-Old Woman Bags 7-year Jail Term For Stealing Baby

A 20-year-old woman, Chidinma Eze has been sentenced by a chief magistrates' court in Benin to seven years in prison for stealing a four-month-old baby.

The accused was found guilty and convicted by Magistrate Peter Asemota.

According to report, Chidinma had pleaded guilty during her arraignment on September 30, 2013.

Without any option of fine, the magistrate sentenced her to 7 years imprisonment.

"I have listened to the unequivocal plea of guilt by the accused person, I have listened to the facts as presented by the prosecutor and I have also read through the statement made to the police by the accused.

"From the statement, the accused admitted that she stole the baby and that she and two others took the baby to Lagos to solicit for funds.

"They went out on three occasions and realised about N30, 000, out of which they paid their hotel bills and fed the baby,"Asemota said.
Asemota stated that it was clear from the statement and the action of the three suspects that they had no intention of returning the baby to its biological mother.

"I am satisfied from the evidence before me that the accused committed the crimes which she has freely admitted to,both at the police station and in the court.

"In the circumstances, I find the accused person guilty as charged on both counts, and convict her accordingly in each of the two counts,''Asemota said.

The prosecutor, ASP Samuel Ogar, during Eze's arraignment, had submitted that she and the two others stole the baby on September 3, 2013 at No. 2, Agbado Lane, Off Ogbado Street, Benin City, adding that her accomplices, aged 15 and 16, had been taken to the juvenile court.

July 1, 2013:The Academic Staff Union of Universities(ASUU)embarked on a nationwide strike over alleged Federal Government's refusal to implement the agreement between it and the union over unpaid entitlements.

ASUU: Police Deploys More Officers To Universities Across The Country

Following an ultimatum the Federal Government gave to striking lecturers, the police announced it was deploying more officers to university campuses across the country.

The Inspector General of Police,Mohammed Abubakar,said this Thursday evening in a statement issued by the police spokesperson, Frank Mba.

"This is designed to help secure life and property in the Ivory Towers and provide enabling environment for lecturers, students, academic and non-academic staff to go about their lawful businesses without let or hindrance," Abubakar's statement said.
10 hours before that, the Acting Minister of Education,Nyesom Wike,had told the ASUU hey had one week to resume.

The police boss also directed all Command Commissioners of Police to personally oversee the intensification of surveillance activities around universities within their State Commands.

In the statement, the police advised lecturers and students within the Institutions to abide by the law and go about their legitimate businesses without fear of molestation or intimidation from any quarters.

It might be that the Wike 's ultimatum and Abubakar's announcement signify that the Federal Government is ready to literarily force the lecturers resume work.

ASUU has been on a nationwide strike since July 1, demanding the FG to implement a 2009 agreement it had with the Union. The industrial action will be enteringits sixth monthover the weekend shoul it not end until Sunday.

ASUU STRIKE: 'The Minister Wants To Start A Fight He Cannot Finish' - UNN ASUU

The Chairman of ASUU at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Dr Ifeanyichukwu Abada, on Thursday said that the lecturers were not bothered by the federal government's one week ultimatum to return to class which it issued yesterday.

Speaking with journalist yesterday in Nsukka, Abada said the union has no business with the minister who issued the order but with President Jonathan, adding that the order cannot work.

"It is unfortunate that the minister thinks that he can use his office to threaten lecturers. The December 4 ultimatum to lecturers to resume work or risk being sacked cannot work,'' Abada said.

According to Abada, the minister was issuing a 'military order' rather than seek ways of settling things amicably with the lecturers.

Also reacting to the ultimatum, the immediate past chairman of the branch, Prof. Aloysius Okolie, described the ultimatum as unfortunate and an act of over-zealousness.

"Let the minister go ahead and sack all the lecturers in the country if he has such powers.

"The minister wants to start a fight he cannot finish," said Okolie, who is also a senior lecturer in the department of political science.

He said it was against labour laws for the government to use the instrument of starvation on striking workers by invoking no-work, no-pay policy.

However, a strong side travelled to Tromso on Thursday to grind out a 2-0 win to confirm Tottenham's top spot in Group K, putting Villas-Boas in a positive frame of mind ahead of the visit of in-form United to White Hart Lane.

"Obviously the opponent we have on Sunday is the biggest that we can have," the former Porto coach told reporters.

"But to prepare for that game, it was important to get back to winning ways and we did it in a fashion where we looked solid and created lots of chances.

FOOTBALL: Beckham: I wanted to stay at Manchester United for my whole career

David Beckham has admitted that all he ever wanted to do was stay at Manchester United- despite having had the honour of playing for Real Madrid, AC Milan and PSG during his illustrious playing career.

The former midfielder left Old Trafford in 2003 for the Santiago Bernabeu, spending five years with the Spanish giants before heading to MLS with LA Galaxy.

Beckham also enjoyed two loan spells at San Siro during that time before returning to Europe for a final stint with PSG earlier this year.

When asked what his teenage self would make of his career so far, the 38-year-old told 'The Christian O'Connell Breakfast Show' on Absolute Radio: "I probably wouldn't believe it, you know, everything that I've achieved in my career and done in my career, the places where I've played.

"I'd probably be a little bit disappointed in myself because I always want to better myself in everything that I do.

"But, as a 17-year-old boy, all I ever wanted to do was stay at Manchester United my whole career, you know, that's nothing against the fact that I've been able to play for some of the other biggest clubs in the world.

"But, not disappointment, but surprise probably, because I always felt that I would stay at Manchester United and finish my career there, so I'd be surprised at myself, not disappointed."

Beckham also reveals that receiving praise from Eric Cantona, for his sensational goal from the halfway line at Selhurst Park in 1996, meant more to him that the strike itself.

"My favourite goal has to be the one against Wimbledon because everybody talks about it, and everybody talks about the history of it," he added.

"But I was happier about the fact that Eric Cantona came up to me afterwards and said, 'Good goal'. That was better than scoring the goal for me.

"He was a quiet man, you know, Eric, but he was a man of few words, and when he actually talked to you it was always something special that he said or some information that you really needed.
"He might have been in the same team as us, and we saw him day in and day out, but for us young lads he was a hero."

Adriano Galliani has announced that he plans to resign as AC MilanCEO after the Serie A giants' last game of the Champions League group stages at home against Ajax on December 11.

The 69-year-old had come under fire in recent months following theRossoneri's disappointing performances and a number of reports already suggested that he was ready to throw in the towel after falling out with board member Barbara Berlusconi.

Galliani has now confirmed that he is indeed set to step down from his position, although he has voiced his frustration with the way things have gone in the past few weeks.

"I will resign in the next few days, probably after the match against Ajax," Galliani said.

"I will leave the club either with or without compensation. I understand that there comes a moment where it's time for change, but not like this. My reputation has been damaged. This should have been treated a bit more delicately.

"I don't know yet how my future will look like. I will take some time off first and then I will make a decision."

Galliani had been Milan CEO ever since 1986 and saw the San Siro giants win five European Cups/Champions Leagues during his tenure as well as eight Serie A titles.

Babatunde Fashola Blasts Stella Oduah

Lagos State governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, has said that the two armoured cars bought at the cost of N255 million for the Minister of Aviation, Mrs. Stella Oduah, will purchase 51 patrol vehicles for the Nigerian Police.

The governor said this at the 7th annual Town Hall Meeting on Security, themed: 'Sustaining Local Responding To Rising National Security Challenges,' held at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.

"It is sad to know that the Federal Government that allocate three patrol vehicles for one state police command of 370, 000 police men, is unable to resolve how N255 million was used to purchase 2 saloon vehicles for one officer. It is a very grave irony.

"The cost of average vehicle needed to patrol the state is just N5 million. And with such fund, we will have put at least 51 patrol vehicles on the road, patrolling the streets of Lagos."

"In spite of all this, they resist the idea of a state police. The money from the fund was in the last one year used to provide vehicles for the Nigerian Prison Service, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, National Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC and indeed the airport wing of the Nigerian police, is funded from this money. And it is the same aviation ministry that manage the airport that we had this very odious car scandal of N255 million."

The governor noted that the upshot of central Government's failure to confront security has continued for the past seven years.

"The residents of Lagos have borne the burden of that neglect, and there is no indication that anything will change soon, in spite of endless reform deliberation and proposals."

On the crime rate in the state, Fashola said "Our crime data base now has record content of 92, 488 which helps us to keep track of all those who have been arrested, prosecuted, jailed or have any contact with the criminal justice system."

He added that the state is preparing for a future of crime prevention, saying "it will be technologically driven, scientifically grounded and result assured."

Peter Okoye Attacks Fashion Designer Emmy Collins For Criticizing His Wedding

Peter Okoye has taken to social media to slam fashion designer Emmy Collins for criticizing him.

Emmy Collins is known for always picking on celebrities and some days back, he wrote critiquing post about Peter's wedding.

According to Emmy, he just couldn't understand why Peter and his friends decided to deck themselves in hideous polyester kaftans, adding that the stitching was the worst he had ever seen.

See what he wrote:

If you guys don`t offer accolades to me for restraining myself from critiquing Lola and Peter Okoye during their wedding, I will claim it in Jesus name, Amen.

Yes, there were enough talking points from that wedding yet I refused to touch them even to the extent that a few comments insinuated that I was playing what someone described as "Pasha".

Well, I must say that Peter and the dudes on this image were totally off the mark when they decided to deck themselves in this hideous polyester kaftans.

As if the fabrics weren't disastrous enough, the quality of stitching employed in putting it together compares with the worst I have witnessed so far considering the fact that it is Peter`s wedding for crying out loud and of course he is not short of a bob or two.

Before you move on to the next image, please work your eyes to the hemming of the kaftans especially that of the guys that are flanking Peter on the left and right.
