INTERVIEW: I Will Need Less Than A Year To Fix Problems Of Electricity, Unemployment And Make Education Free In Lagos –Wife Of Late MKO Abiola, Mrs. Onitiri-Abiola

One of the wives of the winner of most referred Nigeria's historical June 12 1993 election, late Chief MKO Abiola, Mrs. Dupe Onitiri Abiola has said most of the issues confronting Lagos State and the country in entirety would require only few months to resolve under the watch of a dedicated leader.

In an interview with a citizen journalist, Segun O'Law in Lagos recently, Mrs. Onitiri who disclosed that she would contest for Lagos governorship declared that she has a formula that would solve electricity, unemployment and education problems for Lagos State within few months. She expressed confidence of positivism in her ambition, emphasizing that she is the next governor of Lagos State in 2015, after Governor Babatunde Fashola.

Excerpts from the interview:

* I am conducting a survey in your area regarding situation of electricity and I have happened at you. What has the experience been like?

Mrs. Onitiri-Abiola : Electricity has been terrible. For this year, 2014, we haven't had power supply at all, and it is being controlled by Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company [IKEDC].

It's simply worse. Since December 2013, there has not been a blink of light and the excuse they give is that there is vandalization and theft of cables as well as series of other excuses, which we did not even get when it was with the Government. Now we have the private owners and you get excuses that should not be there. Now the situation has grown so worse that, if there is any fault they don't respond timely at all.

The way it all appears now, it is as if the new owners did not know what it is all about, they just bought it for the sake of it.  Although something I understand about President Goodluck Jonathan is that there is something he doesn't want to touch at all, which you can see from his words and actions, that is corruption. He does not want to deal with corruption. But one thing that you can see that he has some intention to deal with is the problem of power [electricity] in this country. And that is probably why he decided to break the back of the cartel and bring in the private investors, but am not sure he sold it to the right people. If you are an investor, before you buy an investment, you would know what you are going into. You would know the challenges, the problems, the potentials and every bottom line of the business. We are not talking about $1 or $2 investment here, we are talking about huge amount of money. So, how can investors say they put in a lot of money into something and they don't care? Now, if there's anything, it takes long days before they respond to it. I do not know the kind of investors they are. I am an investment consultant, so I know all these.

* We have known electricity as an age long problem. Having come this while, where do you think we go from here; what is solution, electricity wise?

Mrs. Onitiri-Abiola : I am very particular about Lagos State. This is because if you have power in all states of the country and you don't have it in Lagos State, then you don't have it yet because Lagos State is the financial capital of this country and Lagos State has the highest population in this country. I don't know what the census is saying but you know, it's a matter for the eyes. You know, the Yoruba says it is what you see. Lagos has the highest potentials and when you look very well, you cannot overlook Lagos State.  So, if the President is talking about electricity, he really must concentrate on Lagos State. I don't want to say what the President or Governor needs to do, it is in their watch. When it's in my watch, I know what to do and I believe by the special grace of God, we will have 24/7 electricity in this State.

* How is that going to happen?

Mrs. Onitiri-Abiola: That is why I said as an investor; you know what you are going into. For me, as a leader, I know what I am going into. I know the problem and this [electricity] is the major problem now. I know this because I do my field work. I go to places and check with people what the problem is. I was in a place and they had not seen light in three months. I have been to the fields and I know what is on the ground, it is not just what the leaders give on paper, no. I am not reading this from the files, I am actually on the ground. I go out, I talk to people, I see it myself and it's happening to me too. I know what the problems are, I know what to do and it is not impossible to do. There are countries that have 24/7 electricity, so why should it be impossible in Nigeria?

* In clear terms, do you want to invest in the electricity sector now or do you simply want to join politics and use State resource because you sound so involved, as though you really want to do something about this?

Mrs. Onitiri-Abiola: Well, when we talk about buying anything, you know, the Government already sold the assets to the people they wanted to sell to, although you wonder why they sold to some of them who bought the assets. It is just like democracy in this country. When we were fighting for Democracy, the people that were totally against it are the people that are benefiting from it now. And if you look at the issue of electricity, some of the people they sold it to are questionable. But then, they've sold it already, they've taken the action already. Now we only have some months into another general election and as I always said, by the special grace of God, I am the next Governor of Lagos State. And as the Governor of Lagos State, I know what to do. I already have my blueprint, and by the grace of God, what I am going to do in the first four years, I already have it in my hands. We are going to fix electricity and we are not going to give excuses, you know, it's not like it's impossible, we can do it… this country can do it.

Let me cite an example of possibilities here. During the ASUU crisis, the Government said it was impossible to give the lecturers the required money, that the system would collapse and heavens would fall and all sorts. But good enough, the leadership of ASUU stood their ground for the sake of the present and future of the education system. And now, it has happened, they got it and the system has not collapsed, heaven has not fallen. How can anything be impossible with all the money and brains we have in this country? How can electricity be impossible in Nigeria?

* Did you say you will be contesting as Governor of Lagos State in 2015?

Mrs. Onitiri-Abiola: By the special grace of God, and I know I am the next governor.

* So, If you become Governor, how long will it take you to make electricity available 24/7 going by your blueprint?

Mrs. Onitiri-Abiola: Am not going to tell you. I will tell you what happened to my husband [MKO Abiola]. My husband acquired a lot of enemies along the way when he said what he was going to do. He said frankly that he would do this and he would do that, so they [people] got scared and said he would not get there. So, I have learned from my husband's experience because I was there with him in the journey. I know if I say it now, a lot of people will put hindrances on the way. There are people who benefit only from bad things. But I am saying to people of this State that by the special grace of God, we are going to have 24/7 electricity in this State. I am aware that the Federal Government is giving the new owners a target of 16 hours or 18 hours, what type of talk is that? If you want to do something, you do it well and if you are not going to do it then don't do it at all. We need 24 hours. It is happening in other countries and it can happen in Nigeria. In this State, it will happen and people are not going to wait long time like one year or two years before it happens, it will happen very early under my watch, by the special grace of God.

* Like other States, Lagos is confronted with other socio-economic problems such as unemployment, insecurity, education crisis where LASU tuition jacked up to over 200%, etcetera. Why would electricity be priority?

Mrs. Onitiri-Abiola: There is poverty in Nigeria and Lagos State is not left out. My mission is to eradicate poverty. When you have such situation, you must take care of so many things at the same time. The reason that electricity is very important is that a lot of things surround it. Things cannot move forward if there is no regular electricity. Am not the type that will do some and leave the rest, I will do many things at same time. I know already, what I want to do. My husband knew what he wanted to do and I am still on that vision to eradicate poverty.

As for unemployment, I tell you within the first three months, although I am not about those that don't want to work, they are the ones that may remain unemployed, but I tell you unemployment is one of the first things we are going to tackle. We are going to have free education in this State under my watch. It is in the constitution of this country to have free education to the secondary level, and it says if possible, to the higher institution. If some people already had education for free in this country, why should later generations not have it free? We have everything to make it possible and it is going to be free under my watch.

* You sound like you want to re-adopt Late MKO Abiola's programs. Are you working his programs?

Mrs. Onitiri-Abiola: Yes, and even more. At that time, his own blueprint was for the whole country. And you remember he also said then that within three months under his own watch, there is no child that would go to bed without food, and that is taking care of poverty. I know about it then, and in this case, we are being very specific. I am a Lagosian and we are removing poverty. You know once we deal with it in Lagos it will affect other parts of the country. I know what am going to do.

* You said in less than one year you would make electricity available for 24 hours. One then wonders whether you want to achieve this by maintaining the old structure on ground, or whether you want to build a completely new and different power grid or to perform other magic to achieve this in a short term.

Mrs. Onitiri-Abiola : By the grace of God I am going to achieve this. To be a good leader, one has to be a student of history. I have studied the history of everything I need to work on and I have designed a plan in readiness for the future so that when I get in, I'll just be working. I don't believe in wasting time on studying when in office, I have done that. All I need to do next is to execute. I do not want to say it specifically because you know, like I said, if you disclose your plan you will play into some hands. I don't want to create enemies at this time and I do not want anybody to misinterpret the mission. I have been on it for many years and I am still on it. we do not deserve what we have on ground in this country, we deserve much better. What we are going to do is not just for now, but also for the future. We guarantee that once we do it, it will still be there after my service.

* It has become obvious that you are pained more by the problem of electricity, but what other issues do you consider deserving change in Lagos State?

Mrs. Onitiri-Abiola : There are many issues in Lagos State and as I have always said, I am starting everything from ground zero, that is, everything brand new. Take for instance in the transportation system, I cannot ride in those buses and if I cannot ride in them, I cannot allow people ride in them. Whatever it is that I cannot use, I cannot allow people to use them. By the grace of God, we are going to bring in what the people deserve. Another problem in the transport system is the noise from sirens. I am a citizen, why should I need siren to go anywhere? As governor, I am not going to allow any security detail or entourage drive or behave recklessly at people. These are the same people that voted so there is no basis to treat them anyhow. If they are in traffic, you stay in traffic with them. And like you mentioned about education, university fees have to go, that will go under my watch. Everything has to be free because we need to invest in people. Making education free is an investment. I am going to invest in people and make life easy for the less privileged and the physically challenged people, because they cannot go into most of those structures. They will be taken up by the State and by the time we begin that, private establishments will follow it too. They will be able to take care of themselves when they are employed. The current governor may say he is the best and is doing the best, but I tell you that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I am not going to grade him yet. When I take over from him, I will tell him his grade right there. Like I said, I have been to the field and practically all the roads are bad. We now have to work on everything and that is what I mean by ground zero.

* On which of the political party platform are you contesting  ?

Mrs. Onitiri-Abiola: All I am still saying now is exercising my right of freedom of expression. I have been saying this for a few months now and by the special grace of God, I am the next Governor of Lagos State after Raji Fashola. That is certain and it means I am going to contest under a platform. I have reviewed most of the parties and I will officially make my choice of party known by end of this month. As I have said, I take my time because I am not only looking at now; I am also concerned about the future. If you look around, you'll discover that most of these political parties, all they care about is power and money, and that is why corruption is common to all of them. The problem of godfather-ism is also common with all of them. I have looked at all the parties and I have made my choice of the one devoid of these issues and by the grace of God, I will make official pronouncement by end of this month.

Justin Bieber -- Cops Say He Was a Cocky Little Bitch

Justin Bieber was "excited, talkative, insulting, cocky" and profane when he was arrested in Miami Beach last week ... this according to official police documents.

According to the docs, a cop at the scene claimed Bieber "reeked of marijuana." Cops say Bieber's reaction was this ... "Yeah, we were smoking all night at the studio."The officer claims Bieber was initially open to taking a "breath test" but then had a change of heart, asking the cop what would happen to his license if he refused the test. The cops say Justin was out of it and couldn't follow basic instructions on how to provide the breath sample. The docs say "he had extreme difficulty providing a continuous breath.''

The report also says Bieber wasn't blowing into the tube properly and cops thought he was deliberately undermining the test. Bieber then became "agitated" and told the officer he was "blowing into the hose like he blows into his trumpet.

"Cops say he admitted he took medications for anxiety, saying "My mom takes care of all that stuff for me."

As TMZ first reported, the docs say Bieber blew a .014, which is barely perceptible. And cops say he flunked the field sobriety test miserably -- his balance was off, he would sway, he couldn't smoothly follow a moving object and couldn't do the finger to nose test with his eyes shut.

Justin Bieber -- Attacked Limo Driver from Behind ... Cops Say

Justin Bieber was charged with assault in Toronto because he allegedly bashed a limo driver in the back of the head.

Toronto Police have released new details of the Dec. 30 incident ... and say the limo driver had picked up 6 passengers around 2:50 AM -- including Justin -- when a fight broke out between the driver and "one of the passengers.

"Cops say the passenger -- allegedly Justin -- hit the limo driver in the back of the head "several times" during the fight, and when the driver stopped to call police ... Justin fled the scene.

Bieber turned himself in last night -- what a scene -- to face the assault charge. Bieber's lawyer, Howard Weitzman, says he expects this will be treated like a low level crime -- the equivalent of a misdemeanor is the U.S. And, Weitzman says, "Our position is Mr. Bieber is innocent."

Queen Elizabeth II Down To Her Last Million, Soon Might Be Broke

Queen Elizabeth II's family are in dire straits and in need of financial help with reports showing up saying that the royal family has only a million pounds left in reserves.
A report by the Commons public accounts committee found that the Queen's advisers were failing to control her finances and her courtiers have been advised to take money-saving tips from the treasury, The Telegraph reported.
MPs said her advisers had overspent to such an extent that her reserve fund had fallen from 35 million pounds in 2001 to just 1 million pounds today.
The Royal household had made efficiency savings of just 5 per cent over the past five years compared with government departments, that are cutting their budgets by up to a third.
MPs on the committee said the treasury must "get a grip" and help to protect the royal palaces from "further damage and deterioration".
Margaret Hodge, the Labour chairman of the committee, was quoted by the daily as saying: "We believe that the treasury has a duty to be actively involved in reviewing the household's financial planning and management - and it has failed to do so."
Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle are reported to be in urgent need of repair.
Staff catch rain in buckets to protect art and antiquities, while the Queen's old boilers were contributing to bills of 774,000 pounds a year, the report said.
"The household must get a much firmer grip on how it plans to address its maintenance backlog. It has not even costed the repair works needed to bring the estate back to an acceptable condition. Again, the treasury has an oversight role here," Hodge said.
In April 2012 the Sovereign Grant replaced the old way of funding the Royal family through the Civil List and various government grants.
The Sovereign Grant represents 15 per cent of the net surplus income of the Crown Estate, land holdings that generate money for the treasury.
A Buckingham Palace spokesman said the sovereign grant had made the Queen's funding "more transparent and scrutinised" and was resulting in a "more efficient use of public funds".
He said repairing the palaces was a "significant financial priority" and that the Royal household had almost doubled its income to 11.6 million pounds since 2007. The Queen receives 31 million pounds a year from taxpayers.
In the report, the PAC suggests that the Royals need to both cut their costs and increase their income. It points out that last year the Royal Household's gas consumption rose by 14 per cent and the waste it generated by 9 per cent.
It pointedly asks why Buckingham Palace cannot be open to the public for longer, potentially increasing revenues.

Beware: T.I. Says It's Time To Get Tough Again: "People Forgot How Fun Gangster S**t Is"

Grammy-winning rapper T.I. recently updated fans on the status of his upcoming Paper work solo album and explained why a return to more gangster-like vibes is very necessary in 2014.

In Tip's perspective, music is losing some of its hardcore essenceit embodied two decades ago.
"People forgot how fun gangster sh*t is. People forgot how exciting it is to really live on the dangerous side of life," he says. "Just people forgot the feeling that you got when [you] watchedBoyz In The Hoodfor the first time. Or when you heardAll Eyez On Mefor the first time. Right now, music is going in a different direction and it is in a different place. I salute and celebrate that path as well.

However, there's a place for the story that needs to be told from our perspective." (XXL Mag)
The "King of the South" also spoke on the amount of studio timehe has clocked in alongsideThe Neptunes' Pharrell Williams.

He adds about his sessions with Pharrell: "Also, me and Pharrell have a plethora [of songs]. We probably done recorded 14 records. Pharrell and I alone. Words couldn't even begin to describe how cutting-edge, left-field and just how broad these records are. But they still have that texture that I speak of.

They still have thatCurtis Mayfield, Bobby Womack, a ridin' dirty kind of ... but a new way to present it to the world because it has that thing that Pharrell does to music that sets it apart from any and everything else that's being played." (XXL Mag)

Last month, Tip said recent work alongside Skateboard P had sparked some fresh album motivation.

"Since we started working on the project and the project started has taken a different shape, I think we're going to postpone that title," T.I. said on Wednesday (December 11) when he appeared on "RapFix Live." "We're gonna rework that. I got a couple of things in mind." "All
I'ma say is, it's gonna be a motion picture, it's gonna be a theatrical-worthy title. Something that will definitely seem instant classic," he said in a very assuring tone. "I'm thinking something like Trap Champion, Paperwork, but whatever it is the subtitle will be The Motion Picture." (MTV)

The Atlanta rapper recently clarified his label situation and why Hustle Gang was still independent.

"Let me clarify," Tip said in an interview. "Hustle Gang, we still independent. They're just, we're just here for the next T.I. project.

Not to say that Hustle Gang is off the table because, you know, we felt like we had some partners at one time but I think since we made the move that we made for T.I's project, I don't know if those partners of ours is still at the table. That's still up for discussion. But as of right now, Hustle Gang is still moving independently." (Hood Rich Radio)

It wasreportedDesmond Elliot traveled to the States with his family for the holidays but decided to let them stay permanently in the country in order to provide better education for his children. Some even suggested that the actor may have relocated his family for protection, due to his 2015 political ambition.
Speaking to HipHopWorldMagazine, Desmond said the report was totally false.
"It's not true, not true at all", he said.

Ciara Admits Future's The Best She's Ever Had, Confesses To Keeping Pregnancy Under Wraps From Parents

R&B singer Ciara recently touched up on her relationship with fiancé Future and revealed why she waited an extra long time before telling her parents about being pregnant with their first child together.

When asked about Future, CiCi did not hold backfrom dishing out her love for the fellow Atlanta musician.

"There's some moves that my body won't let me do like, sit down mama. Slow down.," she admitted.

"[Future's] the best. Literally like my best friend and so sweet. He's been the best support I can have. He's been to every doctor visit with me so it's been really cool." (E! Online)

The R&B diva also explained why she waited an extended periodbefore letting her parents know about the surprise pregnancy.

"I didn't tell my mom and dad as early as I wanted to because I wanted to see them in person, and with my schedule, I travel so much so it was hard to really be able to tell them, or everyone how I wanted to. Of course my family knows now. It was just important to me, to share something so special, that I do it on my time.

You have to get through the first trimester and all those important times, so I just wanted to do it right and do it in a way that I felt was comfortable." (E! Online)

Ciara finally came clean on the growing speculation by announcing her pregnancy on live television around mid-January.

It's true -- Ciara is pregnant! After months of rumors, the singer and actress confirmed Tuesday on The View that yes, she is expecting a baby with her fiancé, rapper-producer Future. This will be the first child for Ciara, 28, while Future, 30, has three children from previous relationships -- a son, 11, a daughter, 4, and a second son, 13 months. (People)

Recently, the 28-year-old admitted she wanted to build a big familywith her rap star fiancé.

"Absolutely, you gotta go one step at a time. You know, that's what I live for. My mother and father were married for 30 years, and my grandparents 50 years, so it's only right. I'm an only child. I want to build a big family because it's me, my mother and father, and I'm the only child. My mom has three brothers and they have two kids, and my dad has five sisters and they have no kids. So, imagine how small [my family is.] I definitely want to do that. I want a big house and big family." (E! News)

Pharrell Pumps Back Jabs After Wild Grammys Disses: "Y'All Tryna Start A Roast Beef"

The Neptunes' Pharrell Williams knows how to take a joke and dish one out as well after receiving an onslaught of playful disses over a questionable fashion statement he made at Sunday night's Grammy Awards ceremony.

With jabs thrown at him over donning an oversized brown hat, Pharrell jumped into the actionvia his Twitter page.

It's the first time Smokey Bear's ever added fuel to a fire -- telling TMZ, he couldn't be more amped that Pharrell ripped off his famous hat last night at the Grammys ... which is more than we can say for Arby's. If you didn't watch the Grammy Awards last night, you probably still saw Pharrell's insane Smokey Bear styled hat somewhere on the horizon ... and it caused a FIRESTORM on the Internet. Obviously we didn't speak directly to Smokey Bear -- he's way too busy fighting fires -- but his rep tells us, they're ecstatic ... Pharrell's hat "is proof that Smokey is as relevant an icon today as he was 70 years ago."

Even Arby's got in on the action ... tweeting, "Hey @Pharrell, can we have our hat back?" Pharrell tweeted back, "Y'all tryna start a roast beef?" (TMZ)

A mass majority of the jokes appeared to stemfrom various Twitter pages.

"Happy" singer Pharrell Williams, 40, wore a large brown headpiece to the Grammy Awards on Sunday night -- where he cleaned up with seven nominations in five different categories -- and everyone had something to say, or tweet, about it. Smokey the Bear's hat, Arby's restaurant logo, Woody's hat from "Toy Story" and even the Sorting Hat from "Harry Potter" were among the famous chapeaus drawing comparisons to the record producer's award show look.

"Thanks @Pharrell for a memorable #GRAMMYs night. Only you can prevent wildfires. http://www.smokeybear.com @smokey_hat" (New York Daily News)

Not to be outdone, music icons Beyoncé and Madonna also fell victim to playful memes during Grammy night.

Beyoncé's hair during her opening performance of "Drunk In Love"?

That's another story. The superstar took the stage with a short hairstyle of wet waves -- an obvious reference to the hair she wears in the music video for the song. We don't think Queen Bey suffered as much criticism as Madonna did, though. While the 55-year-old mom explained that her black suit, hat and cane were chosen by her son, David (who wore a matching outfit), that didn't make the armchair fashionistas any kinder. (CNN)

Rap superstar Jay Z and Pharrell snatched up some trophies Sunday night.

Pharell Williams was named non-classical producer of the year, his work on among others Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" and Daft Punk's "Get Lucky." Rock icon Led Zeppelin won their first Grammy for best rock album, "Celebration Day," from a concert they did seven years ago. Weird stuff like that is common at the Grammys.
The video for "Suit and Tie,"Justin Timberlake's collaboration with Jay Z (the big nominee with nine) was named best music video.

Russell Simmons Weighs In On Macklemore Debate: "Kendrick Is Absolutely A Better Rapper"

Music mogul Russell Simmons has offered some wisdom and his opinion on Sunday's controversial Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Grammy Awards domination and how Kendrick Lamar's talent should not be overlooked.

Although a fan of both artists, Russell gave K. Dot the edgein being a better emcee than Mack Man.

Do you still accept cd's/demos from the hands of emcees? What type of artist do you think hiphop needs right now? What are you looking for?Lyrics & social consciousness. Someone with lyrics & flow like Kendrick, with the social message of Macklemore.

Poets should touch peoples' hearts, and possessing that ability is what's most important. What is the best piece of advice someone has ever told you? What did you think about Kendrick Lamar getting robbed last night for best rap album?Kendrick is absolutely a better rapper, and Macklemore had one of the most inspiring, socially conscious songs of the year and that is what did well for him. He's a great rapper, but there is no evidence anywhere that he's a better artist than Lamar (Reddit)

On an ESPN broadcast this week, Def Jam'sFabolousacknowledged Macklemore as a great musician and noted the Grammys had unusual politics when it came to choosing its winners.

"I wouldn't say he's overrated. I think he's a good artist. I think he makes great music. And he's one of the new artists that's came in on the independent wave. So, I think he's definitely done a lot for that whole wave too as well. So, I think he's a good artist," Fab said in an interview. "I think he's more commercial and it fits in the kind of music that the Grammys celebrates and is looking for. There's guys who've had tremendous success who've never won Grammys.50 Cent has sold millions and millions of records, he's not a Grammy winner because of maybe his style of music or whatever. But I think Macklemore fits in there." (ESPN)

I’m Proud Of My Yoruba Background – Actress, Adunni

Actress, Adunni Adewale aka Adunni Ade, the 'White girl' of the Nigerian movie industry says she's proud of her Yoruba background.
Adunni a Yoruba-born of a Nigerian father and an American mother is the lady behind Date Gone Bad, a new comedyskitmaking waves online.
Adunni Ade is starting the New Year on a bright note. Her video skit, Date Gone Bad, released on Youtube about 10 days ago, has attracted so much attention that it has recorded over 100,000 hits.
That sounds very cool for an actress to entrench herself in aiming the Nigeria's star-studded movie industry.
Adunni who is very surprised at the turnout of the comedy skit says "I must say I am shocked at the kind of attention the skit has got," "I knew it would be good, but I did not imagine it would get up to this level."
Adunni first attracted attention when she featured in Saidi Balogun's movie, You or I, Fred Idika's Behind the Cloud (a TV series), Dereck Obasi's Babatunde Diaries and a new film by Desmond Elliot - Rosemary Roses. Besides, the graduate of Accounting from the University of Kentucky, USA, also featured in Sound Sultan's music video, Kokose, while she did same for Ice Prince last September.
Born in New York, USA, she grew up in Lagos where she attended Chrisland Schools and The Bells Secondary School, Ota, Ogun State. It was after her secondary education that she went to study at Kentucky, only to return to Nigeria a couple of months ago. She has no intention to practise accounting.
She says,"Entertainment has always been part of me. Even when I was young, I would stand in the front of a mirror, acting out the fashion part of me. I never wanted to be a lawyer or anything. God blessed me with a lot of talents."
She adds that though her Lagos-based father, who she describes as a 'big and well successful businessman' inspired her to study Accounting, neither he nor her (Adunni's) mum has any problem with her love for show business.
"My father supports me 100 per cent. My mum is very proud of me. Americans don't care about this kind of thing. They support their children in whatever they choose to do. So, I have no problem building a dream in the entertainment industry. The fact is that I have never been a copycat. I am not looking for the fastest way to limelight. Rather, I want to express myself. My ambition is to be recognised worldwide. But I want to be known for what I have done. I want to be successful through hard work."
While Adunni says she does not give attention to men when they make suggestive moves to her - say, on location - she enthuses that everyone welcomes her at work. But when asked emphatically if men have been making all kinds of advances to her, she says, "Obviously!"
On how she became fluent in Yoruba, Adunni explains that from day one, she has always been a fan of culture.
"I believe you must embrace who you are. I don't understand why anybody will want to say, 'I try to run away from who I am'. You have to be yourself. You have to be proud of yourself. That is why I want to speak Yoruba at every opportunity I have - even when I am in the US."

EMBARRASSMENT: SEE How Wasiu Ayinde Disgraced Pasuma

The cordial relationship between Fuji legend Wasiu Ayinde Marshal aka K1 De Ultimate and star singer Pasuma Alabi can never be the same again since they broke out two years ago.

The rivalry war between the duo is yet to rejoin the smooth cord that binds them together.
K1 and Pasuma's fallout started after a romance allegation between Paso's daughter, Wasilat and KWAM1. This we learnt was the major issue that broke the Fuji stars apart.
Months after the fight, Pasuma emerged as self-acclaimed Oga Nla 1 of fuji music.
The move we learnt forced K1 to vow a legal battle against Paso.
Instead of his legal suit, the Arabambi first of fuji music bent on waging war against pasuma over his decision to leave the defunct Arabambi clan. Since then, he has stopped sharing the same stage with him.
Recently at the launching of Murphy Afolabi's new movie, Omo Mushin, K1 showed that seniority is superiority when he prevented Oganla of fuji music from performing at the event.
Entertainment insiders disclosed that K1, Pasuma and 9ice were invited to perform at the event by the organizers and to grace the stage in an ascending other. As soon as the hip hop star, 9ice finishes his performance, K1 quickly grabbed the microphone.
We learnt the Fuji legend dominated the whole show; not minding Pasuma who was equally billed to perform at the event.
It was a huge surprise to many dignitaries at the show that K1 did not wait for his time and refused to acknowledge the presence of Pasuma as he continued jeering the names of stars at the event. K1 did not leave the stage until 9pm after all the important dignitaries had left.
The show of embarrassment did not go well with Paso who angrily left the event without performing.
The most painful thing is that Pasuma who featured in the film was eager to deliver his musical prowess to entertain his waiting fans.
An insider said K1′s refusal to leave the stage was based on the presence of big spenders at the event who were largely Pasuma's fans and ready to shower heavy cash but K1 preferred that such cash should be spent on him.
This big embarrassment could start another face off between the duo.

RAGE: Pastor Rapes 13-Yr-Old, Then Threatens Father

The Police in Imo State have arrested the General Overseer and head of a popular church in Ikeduru council area of the state, for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl.
This followed a petition written to the Owerri Police Area Command by the lawyer to the father of the alleged rape victim, Mr Emperor Iwuala.
According to the man, the pastor severally raped his daughter between 2010 and 2013.
He narrated,
"Between 2010 and 2013, I was sick and a friend of mine introduced me to the prophet. Because of my sickness, I lost my job as a luxury bus driver and also my accommodation in Naze Owerri. Consequently, the prophet offered me accommodation in his house which he also uses as church. I moved in with my two little daughters."
He continued that one day the pastor's wife caught him trying to abuse one of the man's daughters and she raised alarm. After this he sent his children away, but the prophet threatened me, saying that I must bring my children back to the church.
"It was when my daughters went out of the prophet's custody that they could narrate their ordeal to me. Ironically, the prophet went to the police recently to report that I arranged to kidnap my daughters from his house."
Confirming the petition, Iwuala also disclosed that the said prophet was currently under investigation by the police for buying an alleged stolen vehicle.

Are Rooney and RVP ready for a United return? Deadly pair link up with Moyes' boys at team hotel before Cardiff clash

Manchester United may have been handed a massive boost ahead of Tuesday night's clash with Cardiff.
Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie were pictured with their United team-mates at Manchester's Lowry hotel.
Both frontmen were in club tracksuits, along with Juan Mata - leading to speculation the £37million signing will make his debut alongside United's dynamic duo.

Rooney has been missing with a groin strain since the New Year's Day defeat by Tottenham, while Van Persie suffered a thigh problem in the Champions League win over Shakhtar Donetsk last month.
Old Trafford boss David Moyes confirmed both strikers were back in training on Monday ahead of the visit of Red Devils legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.
If Rooney and Van Persie do start alongside Mata, Moyes will have a near full-strength side.

Exclusive: Cabaye to join PSG as Newcastle opt to sell star midfielder for £23m after rebuffing lower bid

Newcastle have accepted Paris Saint-Germain's £23million bid for France midfielder Yohan Cabaye.
PSG initially offered £14m, which was rejected. However, a delegation from the Ligue 1 giants were in the North East with an increased offer that owner Mike Ashley couldn't turn down.
Cabaye, 28, who went on strike during August when Newcastle turned down a bid from Arsenal, wants his future resolved before the transfer window closes on Friday.

Newcastle face Sunderland on Saturday and manager Alan Pardew said: 'The timing is very unfortunate. It was the same at the start of the season. The biggest concern for me is losing the player and the second biggest concern is that I have the derby on Saturday.'
Pardew admitted it was difficult to compete with super-rich PSG, who have spent a world-record £300m on players since 2011.
He added: 'We know they're a very wealthy and powerful club. We're conscious of that, and we're doing our best to protect Newcastle. I expect him to play at Norwich then I'm sure there will be conversations.
'I always think that if you're going to bring players to a club like this and you're saying to them that you want to break into Champions League football, you will attract better players like that, but you're more likely to lose them if you're not in the Champions League.
'We're probably one of the few clubs in the Premier League who can attract that calibre of player and find ourselves in that position. That's probably why we seem to get affected more than others.
'If we had won two more at Christmas and the end of January, then maybe I could have argued that we have a realistic chance of the Champions League. But I think it's difficult to look a player in the eye and say we have a realistic chance of Champions League football when the bigger teams have all kept winning.'

He was a bargain at £4.3m when he moved to Tyneside from Lille in June 2011 after helping them win the French League and Cup double.
He missed only four games and his passing was pivotal as Toon finished sixth that year to earn the club European football, but this season he has added end product to his game with seven goals in all.

Exclusive: Rooney poised to sign new £300,000 a week deal which will make him Premier League's top earner 'in next few days'

Wayne Rooney is increasingly confident of signing a new record-breaking contract at Manchester United and could even put pen to paper by the end of the week, it emerged on Monday night
The United star has been in talks with officials at the club and is beginning to think ever more optimistically about staying at the club he signed ten years ago.

The 28-year-old only has a slight chance of teaming up with new signing Juan Mata against Cardiff in the Barclays Premier League on Tuesday as he is still recovering from a groin strain. He faces a fitness test but he is more likely to return at Stoke City on Saturday.
Nevertheless, Rooney is understood to be leaning towards extending his stay at United after becoming convinced the club are prepared to spend big to improve David Moyes' squad this summer.

There are some details of an agreement still to be ironed out but sources at United told Sportsmail that things could move quickly once Rooney and his agent Paul Stretford get round the table again with the club's chief executive Ed Woodward.
A new deal would take Rooney's incentive-based pay up towards the £300,000-a-week mark and that would make him the highest paid player in the country.

"My Wife's Parents Will Not Allow Us Have Sex" - Husband Tells Court

A 33-year-old man, Mr. Oluwafemi Adebiyi and his wife, Ariyike, a few days ago took their marital differences before the Agege Grade A Customary Court in Lagos State.

Oluwafemi had initiated divorce proceedings against his wife on the ground that for over a year that his wife was delivered of their baby girl, he was denied access to the child.

"Her parents claim I do not have enough sperm to make babies.

"On our wedding day, they did not allow her to sleep in my house.

According to them, I wasn't capable of shouldering the responsibility of the child," he said.

He added that he was not allowed to name their child in his home as his in-laws insisted that the child be named in their house.

Oluwafemi added that he was only allowed to name the child in his father's house after much argument and immediately after the naming ceremony, his wife's parents went away with the child and he has not set eyes on her till date.

He told the court that the ridicule his in-laws had subjected him to was enough to make him deny the child's paternity.

He, therefore, urged the court to dissolve their marriage and further asked that his wife return the wedding ring he gave her.

In her defence, 29-year-old Ariyike informed the court that her in-laws were evil which was the reason their child was born at seven months and 21 days.

"When I gave birth to the child, it had no eyelids, which means she was born premature," she said.

Ariyike further told the court that she could not name her child Phoebe because that was the name of her husband's girlfriend who died some years back.

She also alleged that her husband indulged in smoking of Indian hemp and drinking of beer and anytime she reported him to his parents, they took sides with him.

She agreed that the court separate them and grant her custody of the child.

The court president, Mr. Emmanuel Shokunle, ordered that both couple should come back to court with a common name for the baby that would be written on the birth certificate. He also ordered Ariyike to bring the child every last Friday of the month to the court.

SOULJA BOY BRUSHES OFF JAILSTINT: "THEY WANT TO SEE YOU FALL"

Atlanta rapper Soulja Boy Tell Em is not going to let a publicized arrest on a weapons charge slow him down for getting his hustle on and promised new tunes would
be dropping heading into the weekend.

Although brief with his words, SB acknowledged the headlines he sparked after being arrested
earlier in the week.

"Thanks for everyone who sent love and checked on me I appreciate we all good I'm gonna drop some music tonight! Sh*t crazy!!!," SB tweeted January 24.

"They want to see you fall" (Soulja Boy Tell Em's Twitter)

According to reports, the arrest went down Wednesday (January 22) morning.

Soulja Boy was arrested in L.A. ...
after cops say he was packin' a LOADED GUN, TMZ has learned. Law
enforcement sources tell us ... the 23-year-old rapper was a passenger in a vehicle that was pulled over in the San Fernando Valley for running a stop sign early Wednesday morning.

During the stop, cops say they noticed that Soulja was in possession of a loaded gun -- and arrested him on the stop. Soulja was hauled to a nearby jail -- he's currently being booked. Soulja has a history of run- ins with the law -- he was busted for weed and weapons back in 2011. (TMZ)

Last month, Soulja Boy was dragged into a nasty alleged baby mother drama case.
The woman claiming Soulja Boy fathered her kid has some hard evidence he's the daddy ... including pictures of her straddling Soulja.

Diamond Shantaniece Mackey filed legal docs claiming Soulja Boy has a son -- 5-year-old Portlon. Turns out Diamond may have struck gold with a picture taken in 2007 in a hotel room where she claims she took a pregnancy test ...which came back positive. During her pregnancy, Soulja became a huge star with the hit, "Crank That."

After Portlon was born ... Diamond says Soulja took a home DNA test and texted her a picture of a 0% sign and then changed his phone number. (TMZ)

Although no longer a love interest, female rapper Diamond said she still maintained a close relationship with SB last February.

"Well, I'm single, but the relationship as far as me and him, we're best friends so I think thats what keeps us so balanced," she revealed in an interview. "I learned a lot from him and he learned a lot from me. Our foundation is that we're really really good friends, he's a good person." (Everything Girls Love)

The coolest footballer of all-time? PSG star Zlatan star strips off for new Volvo car ad

Zlatan Ibrahimovic isn't the shyest of footballers, with his acerbic tongue and exuberant personality often creating headlines just as much as his lethal prowess in front of goal.
Now he's taken things one step further by stripping off and plunging into freezing cold water for a new advert for car manufacturer Volvo.
With two Swedish icons in'Ibra' and Volvocoming together for the video, the PSG striker proves his ice-cool persona is true as he goes for a dip, hikes and hunts across snowy mountains and shows off his tattooed torso by working out at home.
The advert is tagged 'Made by Sweden', and Volvo described the video as a celebration of the country, with the message:'Sweden is our home. Mountains, vast forests, long distances, sun, rain, darkness, snow and ice.
'This inspires and challenges us when we develop our cars. The Swedish wilderness is our heritage and it is here we find our strength. Just like Zlatan Ibrahimović. This is our celebration of Sweden.'
Ibrahimovic's blonde-bombshell partner Helena also takes part in the advert.
While Ibrahimovic takes part in this championing of his homeland, however, one group of fans want him to switch allegiances.
With the Sweden talisman missing out on the World Cup thanks to a Cristiano Ronaldo-inspired Portugal pipping them in the play-offs, Colombia fans have launched an internet campaign to 'naturalize' him.
The South Americans were dealt the massive blow that star striker Radamel Falcao is likely to miss the tournament after getting injured playing for Monaco, but the tongue-in-cheek campaign to recruit 'Ibra' is likely to fall on deaf ears at FIFA.

Man Utd New Signing Mata Unveiled: Chooses Jersey No 8

David Moyes said he was "thrilled" to sign Mata and didn't think it was a deal he would be able to do this month.
Moyes insisted, once again, that this was just the start of a "rebuild" at the club and more signings of Mata's calibre would be made in the future.
Mata said joining Manchester United was a "great moment" for him and admitted the last six months of his spell atChelseahad been difficult.
The Spaniard is convinced that it is in the club's DNA to fight until the end for victories and silverware despite their disappointing season to this point.

Juan Mata:"This club is used to fighting until the end and getting the results they want. Manchester United are always fighting to win titles and come back from difficult moments. I will just try to enjoy it. It's time to show the football I have inside of me. The team is really good, this season they've had some unlucky moments. Hopefully it's going to be better from now until the end of the season."

Juan Mata:I'm very happy to have the chance to play in a massive club like this. The last 6 months at Chelsea were difficult for me but I'm sure this is going to be a great great period for me.
The first two seasons at Chelsea were unbelievable. The fans, the club, everything was amazing.
"Jose Mourinho is a very good manager, the squad is unbelievable, so I respected my team-mates. I tried my best in the minutes I had. But when Man United came it was a great option for me to carry on my career.
"I like the No.8. I know No.7 is iconic here but I was speaking with David and we decided No.8 is good for me. Hopefully it will bring me good luck."

Cool Fm OAP Blasts Celebrities! Says They Wear Fake + He’s Got Wristwatches Worth $200,000

Now when we see people in the entertainment world blast others, then it gets more interesting to us, lol. Here is what Freeze said, when he was asked how many wristwatches he owns by a reporter. He also spoke about how Nigerian celebrities wear fakes.

"Not like how many, like how much.I have maybe $200,000 in wristwatches. What I am wearing now is a Rolex Daytona, I got it from Polo for Christmas. It cost about $30,000. Polo is Nigeria's only authorised dealer, so I bought it from the company and I love it.

First thing first, for all the entertainers putting up pictures of their accessories on Instagram, can they please tweet the receipt from an authorised dealer. Trust me, I have seen too many celebs wear fake stuffs.

You can tell that they don't know what they are wearing. Of course, there are a few brand names like D'banj, Don Jazzy, P-Square or Wizkid that would not wear fake.

I have seen them wear good watches. But there are some other people who I have seen wear funny looking pieces.

There was one particular musician that I saw wearing a Rolex and the gold was fading. Rolex never uses gold plates, they use pure gold. If you see anything gold on a Rolex, it is pure gold. When I saw that, I was disappointed at the musician, especially because of the level of respect I had for the musician.

There is no such thing like buying a Rolex with a credit card. You can't buy a Rolex with a credit card; who are you? Diddy? For you to be able to walk away with a £20,000 watch, you would have a substantial amount of money in that card."

As the victim groaned in pains, traders and buyers took to their heels, abandoning the man as well as their goods.
Most of the people who witnessed the incident blamed the man for being stubborn.
According to one of the witnesses, "The man saw us running and paving way immediately we sighted the juju priest and other devotees, but he refused to do likewise. This annoyed the priest, who descended on him."
The victim was however, later rushed to a nearby hospital where medical personnel were battling to save his life.
Meanwhile, peace has returned to the market, described as the largest in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

One of the ways I have evangelised is to repeatedly tell people my past experience of God's intervention, when I fasted for 10 months, 6am-6pm, praying to God to come down.
"That was how I became governor. I went to court. Instead of the court to say, Amaechi go and contest election, the court said Amaechi go and be the governor of Rivers State. And because I make public my experience, a lot of people now believe that if they focus on God, God will hear their prayers. So, I am also evangelising by testifying to the public about the glory of God in my life."
Amaechi who called on the church to continue to pray for enduring peace in the state also spoke on his achievements so far as governor, adding that he will continue to deliver the dividends of democracy to the state.
He said:"We have employed more teachers. We are doing bio-metric registration exercise and that is why we are going to pay them next month. We shall pay them by installments until the arrears are cleared. I will continue to serve the poor, I will not compromise on service delivery.
"What I want you (Christians) to do is to pray for all of us as a state so that we can come out of the crisis plaguing the peace of the state. Please, also pray for those who have not received Christ to repent and change from their evil ways."
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, urged people of the state to continue to uphold the values of God Almighty and promote harmony in the state.

JUAN MATA - HIS FIRST INTERVIEW AS A MAN UNITED PLAYER: When I heard that Moyes wanted to sign me, I just thought 'wow'...

Manchester United's record signing Juan Mata has vowed to win the Barclays Premier League with his new club and believes he can live up to his £37m price tag.
Mata will be unveiled at a press conference at his new club early on Monday afternoon after joining from Chelsea over the weekend.
And the Spain midfielder is ready to feature against Cardiff at Old Trafford on Tuesday night after telling manager David Moyes he is willing to play in any of the three positions behind the central striker.
'I know it is a big price but I'm confident that everything is going to be OK,' said Mata.
'I will try my best as I always have done. The squad and the manager are very good and the fans are unbelievable – we have everything to be successful.
'When I heard of United's interest I thought: "Wow".
'This is a team that has won a lot of leagues in the history of the Premier League and English league. It's amazing knowing that a club like Manchester United is interested in you. It's a good feeling.
'I would like to win the Premier League. It's a very special trophy for every player that plays in this country. At this club I believe you can achieve anything.
'I will try my best. I am still young and have been lucky to win some trophies, but I want to win a lot more.
'First of all I just want to be playing! I love to play.
'But I think I can play in the three positions behind the striker.
'I played on the left when I arrived at Chelsea, this season I have played on the right and last season, which was probably the best season of my career, I played behind the striker. But it doesn't matter as long as I play.'
Mata has revealed that conversations with United goalkeeper David de Gea, his Spain team-mate, encouraged him to move to Manchester.
He added: 'David de Gea has been texting me in the last few days saying, "When are coming, when are you landing?"
'He said, "Are you coming by helicopter or by bicycle?"
'I am here now and I am very happy to be here, particularly with David because he is a very good friend, an amazing goalkeeper and a top guy. He was important for me in terms of coming here.
'Obviously for a player like me who is trying to score goals, assist goals and be a creative player it's going to be amazing to play with Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie, Adnan (Januzaj), (Antonio) Valencia, Chicharito (Javier Hernandez), (Danny) Welbeck.
'They are all top-level players and I will try to do the best for the team.'
