The reasons for their nonattendance have not been know at the time of filling this report.
The summit themed 'Human Security, Peace and Development: Agenda for 21st Century Africa' was part of the activities markingthe Nigeria's centenary celebration.
In attendance, however, were, the former president Shehu Shagari, former head of state Yakubu Gowon, former head of interim national government Chief Earnest Shonekan, former vice president Alex Ekwueme as well as former chief of staff General Oladipupo Diya.
Speaker of the House of Representatives Aminu Tambuwal and his deputy Emeka Ihedioha also were present at the event.
Atiku Abubakar in his twitter said he was proud of Nigeria's last 100 years, but called the ongoing celebration"a symbolic dance on the graves of those murdered FGC kids".

I'm proud of our history over the last 100 years. I congratulate our President and Nigerians for this journey so far

However, I totally denounce the party currently happening in Abuja. It is a symbolic dance on the graves of those murdered FGC kids

He added that the centenary party is a "slap on the faces" of those children's parents:

It's a slap on the faces of FGC parents currently mourning their children, and those crying over their abducted children.
