Jackie Chan commits royal gaffe at conference

Hong Kong superstar Jackie Chan mistook UK's Prince William for his brother Prince Harry at a conference in London recently, and later explained that he made the mistake because they look alike.

Hong Kong superstar Jackie Chan committed a royal gaffe when he attended a conference in London on the illegal wildlife trade recently, reported Hong Kong media.

The 59-year-old "Rush Hour" star met Britain's Prince William at the event, but confused him with his brother Prince Harry.

Chan had congratulated Prince William on his successful trip to the South Pole.

Prince William clarified that it was actually his brother who had gone to the South Pole with a team of wounded servicemen.

The actor was later quoted by UK newspaper "The Times" as saying that he made the mistake because the two princes "look almost [the] same".

Chan had also recently been elected as the President of the Hong Kong Performing Artistes Guild.

When asked if he was worried Chan would continue to commit gaffes as the head of the guild, former guild president Eric Tsang told Hong Kong media on Saturday that it shouldn't be a problem.

He explained that it is usually the guild secretary, not the president, who speaks on behalf of the guild, before joking that Chan's royal gaffe was a relatively "minor incident".

"At least he (Chan) knew he was talking to a prince," quipped Tsang.
