Fayose Has A Message For Ekiti

Ekiti State Governor- Elect, Ayo Fayose, has finally responded to the petition filed by the All Progressives Congress, APC, against his 21 June, 2014, governorship election victory.

According to a preliminary objection filed by Fayose’s counsel, Mr. Yusuf Alli (SAN) before the tribunal in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday, 14 August, 2014, the governor-elect urged the Ekiti Election Petition Tribunal to strike out the petition filed by the APC on the grounds of non-joinder and mis-joinder of parties.

The New Telegraph online reports that the legal adviser to Ekiti State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Kolapo Kolade, filed the application on behalf of Alli.

It was gathered that Fayose, who defeated the APC candidate, incumbent Governor Kayode Fayemi and 16 others in the poll, has also lined 35 witnesses for his defence.

It would be recalled that the APC had gone to the election tribunal to challenge the declaration of Fayose as the winner of the election by Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, saying the PDP candidate did not poll the highest number of valid votes in the election.
