Ekiti PDP faults APC’s claim on Osun election

The Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has faulted
the All Progressives Congress for saying that Governor Rauf
Aregbesola’s victory in the recently concluded Osun State election
pointed to the fact that the Ekiti election, which produced Ayo
Fayose of the Peoples Democratic Party as the winner, was
manipulated.
The EKiti PDP said the statement credited to the state’s APC
chairman, Jide Awe, in which he claimed that Aregbesola retained
his seat in the August 9 election because the PDP was unable to
manipulate the poll like it did in Ekiti, lacked logic.
In a statement issued by the Ekiti PDP Publicity Secretary, Kola
Oluwawole, in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, the party said the APC had by
the comment, shown that it would never see anything good in
other people not sharing its political belief.
He said, “By now, we are sure that Nigerians, and even outsiders
familiar with political developments in the country and who are not
bought over by the propaganda machinery of the APC, would have
seen the doublespeak and the double standards in the party.
“The APC is only interested in destroying whatever does not favour
it. The Ekiti June 21 election was adjudged credible, free and fair
by local and international observers.”
The PDP spokesperson added that the accusation by the APC that
the Ekiti poll was militarised could not hold water.
“This is what we are saying. In Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole,
their man, lauded the presence of security agents during his
election. He even went to thank President Goodluck Jonathan after
he won, saying the presence of military men dissuaded people
from fomenting trouble,” the PDP said.
