Mario Balotellihas arrived at Liverpool's training ground to complete his €20 million move to Anfield.
Liverpool have agreed a deal with AC Milan to sign the Italy international, who said goodbye to his team-mates after Thursday's training session.
Balotelli, who scored 18 goals in all competitions last season, is expected to finalise his switch over the weekend and Brendan Rodgers revealed on Friday that he had no qualms about acquiring a player with such a chequered history.
"Sometimes you have to take a risk with people, but a lot of the time if you take that risk you get a reward for it," said the Liverpool manager.
"No player would come into here if I felt it couldn't work. If I can help the person, then it's something I will look at too.
"People who know me well will tell you I look to try and develop the player and the person. Thankfully we have that culture here.
"I've shown before that as long as players care and want to learn, we can give them the opportunity to develop."
Balotelli's move could be swiftly followed by the acquisition of Samuel Eto'o, who has snubbed interest from Everton to sign a one-year contract with Liverpool.
