A 22-year-old security guard, Gideon Musa, has been arrested by officers of the Enugu State Police Command for raping a nine-year-old girl to death in Umuchigbo area of the state. The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Ebere Amaraizu, who made this known to Vanguard reporter, said the suspect who is a guard close to the victim’s house took her to a nearby bush and raped her to death. Amaraizu said the teenager’s father Edwin Ode Ominiyi came to the station and reported a case of missing person. The force spokesman said the complainant told the police that his daughter had suddenly disappeared at about 1: 00 p.m, noting that a thorough search had been carried but to no avail. The spokesman said the officers quickly commenced operation and spread the word around the community and environs. Speaking further the spokesman said an intensified search was conducted by the police with assistance from the victim’s father as well as the suspect (Musa), who pretended to be assisting in finding the girl. He said during the search, the police got a tip off that Musa was the last person seen with the victim. “Following this revelation, Musa, popularly known as Aboki Mai-guard, was invited and questioned by the police. He then confessed that he took the victim to a nearby bush where he had carnal knowledge of her until she became unconscious and fainted. He further revealed that when the victim fainted, he had to run out from the bush. When he took the operatives to the place, the lifeless body of little Endurance was seen lying naked with blood gushing out from her private part” Amaraizu said |
