Barcelona manager Luis Enrique has had surgery after being diagnosed with appendicitis.
According to Spanish newspaperMundo Deportivo, the 44-year-old was rushed to an emergency room in serious discomfort on Monday morning before undergoing tests to confirm the problem.
In a statement on their official website, Barcelona said the surgery was a success and that Enrique will be discharged from hospital in the next day or so.
The Spaniard, who played for Barca between 1996 and 2004, was appointed as the club's manager on a two-year deal last month.
Enrique will be keen to get back to work as soon as possible he continues to shape his own side ahead of the new season.
Gerard Pique and Javier Mascherano have recently signed new deals to stay at the club, while Sevilla midfielder Ivan Rakitic is closing in on a move to the Nou Camp.
Enrique looks likely to be without Cesc Fabregas next season as Chelsea continue their pursuit of the £30million-rated star.
Dani Alves, Pedro and Alexis Sanchez are also set to leave in the re-structuring.
