Uruguay captain Diego Lugano denies that his teammate Luis Suárez bit Giorgio Chiellini and called the Italian player a "real snitch, bad person and cry baby".
"The images don't show anything, it was a tussle. We saw the photo of Chiellini. What was his name again? Chielllini?" he said about the image in which the defender showed the referee the supposed bite marks from Suárez during a scuffle towards the end of the game which Uruguay won 1-0, sealing their passage to the last 16 in Brazil.
"They are old scars, anyone stupid can realise that, you have to be really stupid not to realise they are old scars," said 34-year-old Lugano who did not feature today due to injury. "Italy were loyal to their history, they were very physical and time wasted like there was no tomorrow, it's part of the game and we respect that.
But if Chiellini comes out and accuses Suárez after the game, we won't respect him for that," he added.
