'Messi' movie set to premiere in Rio de Janeiro amidst WC

A documentary based on the Lionel Messi is set for a July premiere in Rio de Janeiro, and will coincide with the ongoing World Cup 2014 in Brazil. Production house Mediapro declared the news adding that the film, which is helmed by Spanish cult director Alex de la Iglesia, is a tribute to the 27-year-old Argentine striker, who is considered to be amongst one of the greatest soccer players of all time, the Hollywood Reporter reported.The movie, which is based on the script by former Argentine soccer ace Jorge Valdano, will show real footage of the player's life from the age of 4 onwards, who was diagnosed with a growth hormone deficiency at age 11.FC Barcelona had stepped in to pay the bills for the Rosario, Santa Fe born football star's costly treatment after they saw his potential.
