Megachurch Pastor Bob Coy Confesses Cheating On His Wife, Resigns

The Senior Pastor of Calvary Chapel, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Bob Coy has abandoned his 20,000-member congregation following revelations of a "moral failing".
According to the website of the church, the resignation was with the immediate effect starting from April 3, 2014, Thursday, after Pastor Coy made a confession, which disqualified him"from continuing his leadership role at the church he has led since its founding in 1985".
Suspectedextramarital affairsmay have been one reason. Secondly, the bloggers alleged thatthe pastor had a long standing "problem with pornography".
The pastor did not appear in church on April 6, 2014, Sunday.
Church members are reportedly saddened by the news. A churchgoer was brought to tears as she spoke to local newsmen about Coy's resignation:
"I'm very sad, but, you know, we're all sinners,"she said.
It would be noted that Coy's church is listed by Outreach magazine as the 14th largest church in the U.S.A., and was growing rapidly. Its assets are around $135 million, according to the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability.
The church has 10 chapters across the state and has hosted numerous evangelical speakers.
It is also the second-largest Megachurch in Florida, according to the Hartford Institute for Religion Research.
