Thibaut Courtois is winning the race to become the No 1 goalkeeper at Chelsea. Barring any last-minute injuries to the Belgian he is set to play in front of Petr Cech against Burnley on Monday night. Jose Mourinho’s decision to select the 22-year-old ahead of Cech, who has been regular first-choice at the club since he joined a decade ago from Rennes, throws into doubt the player’s future. Paris Saint-Germain, Monaco and Real Madrid are all understood to be keen on signing Cech. They have been waiting to see the outcome of Mourinho’s decision ahead of making a move for the Czech. Courtois has been on loan at Atletico Madrid for the previous three seasons and was part of the side which shocked Madrid and Barcelona to win the Spanish La Liga and reach the Champions League final last season. |
