In an apparent move to woo Okara riders and maintain the All Progressives Congress (APC) hold on power in Lagos come 2015, the Lagos state House of Assembly has agreed to review some of the roads where okada riders's operations had been previously restricted. The move by the House followed constant complaints from people about police harassments and intimidation of okada riders on approved routes, reports P.M News The resolution to review the ban followed a motion sponsored by 10 lawmakers led by Sanai Agunbiade representing Ikorodu Constituency 1. In the motion, the lawmakers called on the Governor Babatunde Fashola to urgently act in that regard to save okada riders in the state from harassment by the police and other security agencies. The House also mandated the governor to immediately alert the Commissioner of Police, Umar Manko, on the need to urgently call his men to order following complaints about indiscriminate arrest of the riders in their legal areas of operation. |
