A Nigerian nurse, who had contacts with the dead Liberian, Patrick Sawyer in Lagos has escaped being quarantined. The Nation reports that the nurse who in a bid to avoid being quarantined, fled to the eastern part of Enugu, her hometown.She has however made contacts with 20 people who are under surveillance for a suspected case of the deadly disease in Enugu. This was made known by the Information Minister Labaran Maku, who confirmed that said the nurse, who herself has a suspected Ebola Virus Case EVD . This new development has further added to the number of cases in Nigeria as it has now risen to a total of 189 people who are under watch in the country. Although The Nation reported about an unnamed nurse, while Sahara Reporters made it known that the nurse who reportedly escaped from quarantine is not Obi Justina Ejelonu; as she is doing fine where she’s been quarantined, awaiting the WHO approved vaccine. Three deaths have however been reportedly connected to Nigeria, the Liberian-American businessman who brought the deadly disease into the country called Patrick Sawyer, an attending nurse, and an ECOWAS staffer who worked with Sawyer. |
