Sergio Romero denies ever refusing a move to Manchester United

Sampdoria goalkeeper Sergio Romero has denied reports that he turned down an opportunity to play for Manchester United before the transfer window closed.
As deadline day loomed last week, reports linked Romero to United as a backup for David De Gea, but the Argentine ultimately stayed with Sampdoria.
The 27-year-old keeper said no player would be able to turn down a move to Old Trafford.
"I've had two or three possibilities but none of them were positively concluded," Romero told Il Secolo XIX.
"I've not asked more money to go to Benfica and I've read I would have refused United. But in your opinion, there is someone able to refuse one of the world's top club?"
Romero said he is happy to remain at Sampdoria now that the transfer window has closed.
"I want to show my value here, so I'll be able o find my space," he said. "I've spoken with the president, the sporting director and coach Sinisa Mihajilovic, who told me that should I do good things, he will give me an opportunity."
