Casillas, Reina and De Gea all get World Cup call-up

Spain will announce their provisional World Cup squad – which the Spanish Federation will make public that same day - on 13th May and it will include only three keepers. Del Bosque understands there is no need to drop an outfield player when he has no doubts surrounding which keepers he is taking to the World Cup (Casillas, Reina and De Gea) and, in the case of injury – and with FIFA approval -, there is plenty of time to bring in another player - who wasn't in the initial 30-man squad – any time up to 24 hours before their opening game against the Netherlands.
The 30-man list includes Dani Carvajal, who has played his way into contention and will compete with Juanfran for a place in the final squad. With two league games and the Champions League final left until the end of the season, the Atlético de Madrid full-back looks better placed to be on the plane to Brazil. There are hardly any doubts regarding the rest of the defence. Azpilicueta – versatile and can play on both sides -, Sergio Ramos, Piqué, Albiol, Javi Martínez – capable of playing in defence or midfield – and Jordi Alba complete Spain's backline.

The 30-man list includes, aside from Carvajal, another left-back (Alberto Moreno) and another centre-back (Iñigo Martínez). For after the World Cup, pending how much playing time they get, the names of Montoya, and in particular Nacho are highlighted in red.
