Emmanuel Adebayor: I paid Alex Song’s fines for him at Arsenal

Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor has revealed how he used to pay former team-mate Alex Song's fines for him during their time together at Arsenal.

The Spurs striker, whose club sacked manager Tim Sherwood this week, has revealed in an exclusive interview with Fabrice Muamba for the Express that he used to pay for Song's fines during their time in north London, as he did his best to be professional. Adebayor left the Gunners in sour circumstances, but he has admitted he did all he could to be the best at Arsenal.

The forward also had kinds words for Thierry Henry, Arsenal's legendary striker. "Yeah, the best. A legend. I respect him a lot because I learned a lot under him," he said. "He took me on as a junior brother and after every training he was the only one telling me,

'Adebayor, let's work on the finishing.

Like the goal I scored against Chelsea – we had been doing that a lot in training with Thierry Henry. "I learnt a lot, a lot, a lot under Thierry Henry. I learnt how to be professional. How to always be on time."

He added: "I have never been late anywhere I have been. Even when I was at Arsenal, you can ask Alex Song, I was the one paying Alex Song's fines for him. I was trying to do everything for him to be a professional. And I am saying this on TV. You can ask him."
