But it seems even an online behemoth like Twitter is not a match for the Oscars.

The website temporarily went down during the Academy Awards broadcast on Sunday night, likely due to the deluge of users logging in to view the winners.

Users were met with a message stating: 'Something is technically wrong. Thanks for noticing - we're going to fix it up and have things back to normal soon.'
