A Junior Secondary Student of the Universal Basic Education Secondary School in Kaiama has lost his life after he was reportedly crushed to death by a commercial bus in Bayelsa State.
The deceased a 13-year old was crushed to death while trying to cross the road along the Kaiama stretch of the East-West road in Kolokuma-Opokuma Local Government Council Area of the state.
According to sources the incident was said to have occurred at about 9am on Tuesday, thereby causing traffic along the East-West road.
According to a source "The boy was crushed by the vehicle while trying to cross the road on his way to school. But the driver of the vehicle stopped and reported himself to the Kaiama Police Station to avoid being mobbed.
"Most of his school mates gathered around watching the evacuation of the deceased mangled body," a source said.
The spokesman of the State Police Command, DSP Alex Akhigbe, when contacted said he was yet to be briefed on the development saying "the decision of the driver to report himself to the Kaiama Police Station is a welcome development. Proper investigation will be done."
