BREAKING NEWS: Death Toll Reaches 35 as Multiple Bomb Explosions Rock Maiduguri

The capital city of Borno state, Maiduguri, is under attack from insurgents believed to be members of the extremist Boko Haram sect.

According to residents, two thunderous explosions, suspected to be from detonated bombs, were heard in the city at about 6.15 p.m. on March 1, 2014, Saturday.Minutes ago, third explosion has been reported, but it has not been officially confirmed.

Terrorists in two vans, pretending to be firewood suppliers, detonated the bombsat a densely populated Ajilari ward, Jere Council area of Maiduguri, near Ngomari-Bulumkutu.

According to PREMIUM TIMES panic and confusion hit the city, heavy dust and smoke everywhere now, as the residents rushed their homes for safety.

The details remain sketchy, as GSM networks in the area still do not work properly.

The Commissioner of Police in Borno, Alhaji Lawal Tanko, confirmed the blasts. Tanko said 35 bodies had been evacuated so far:

"We are still counting. So far, we have counted 35 bodies. Our men are still working with rescue workers at the scene."

Another unconfirmed report on Twitter says that one of the bombs went off at a local football viewing centre (cinema).

A suicide bomber attack a cinema while people are watching in ajilari area in maiduguri were many are reported dead.
