President Goodluck Jonathan has reacted to double terrorist attack in Kaduna, which targeted a renowned Islamic Cleric, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, and a prominent politician and a former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari, by a statement issued by his Special Adviser, Reuben Abati.
The leader of the country thanked God for sparing the lives of General Buhariand Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi. He further condoled with the families and relatives of those who were killed by the explosions. He also commiserated the injured.
President Jonathan noted that the dastardly targeting of the prominent political and religious leaders, as well as innocent people defy the tenets of Islam, and provide further proof that the terrorists are nothing but blood-thirsty extremists. He also reminded that the attack came during Holy Month of Ramadan and was aimed at"undermining the unity and progress of the nation".
The president assured the citizens, residents of Kaduna in particular, the Federal Government would do its best to"effectively curb the menace of terrorism in the country".
Jonathan has also directed the Inspector General of Police, national security and law enforcement agencies to take all the necessary steps to find the perpetrators of July 23 attacks, urged the residents to cooperate with the authorities in fulfilling the task of brining the terrorists to justice.
