A pub worker's first word after spending three months in a coma was 'Mom'.
His heartbroken mother, Clare Simpson, has spent everyday waiting for her son Josh Morgan to wake at the University Hospitalof North Staffordshire, the Birmingham Mail reports.
Josh, 20, was left in a coma after allegedly being attacked in Cannock just after 2am on March 9.
The pub worker suffered serious injuries following an incident at the rear of the Missoula bar in the town centre.
A member of the public found his body hours later behind bins and called paramedics.
Doctors initially prepared Clare for the worse fearing he would never regain consciousness.
But the miracle she has prayed has come true as she revealed he had opened his eyes and uttered the one word she had desperately wanted to hear.
She posted on Facebook: "My beautiful boy through a very distorted voice has said the word 'mom.'
"It was the most beautiful sound in the world. Both his Dad and I were there to hear it and three of his friends.
"We hope that very soon we will be hearing many more words in his voice that we all love and recognise. I love you Joshy babe I am so proud of you."
