Abuja-London British Airways flight was forced to make an emergency landing after a Nigerian woman had delivered a baby right on board the plane, PM News reports.
Ujunwa Eneh Ozeh was only 26 weeks pregnant and the baby was not due until August. However, according to Mail Online, the pilot had to land in Palma de Mallorce (Spain), where the mother and her little baby boy named Michael were rushed to the local hospital.
Early born Michael is in the intensive care unit and will have to stay in the hospital until August to develop properly.
Thus his mother, who has been discharged soon, will stay in the city with her son.
The woman was shocked when her water broke while she was on board. Luckily there was a female doctor to follow the medical process of delivery enabled by the crew, who are trained for such procedures.
Upon landing Ozeh said:"I am fine and healthy and the doctor said that Michael is doing pretty well, that it's looking good and he is trying to survive."
Her husband is currently trying to obtain a Spanish visa to join his wife and children (the couple is blessed with 2).
