Striker will be best paid player in England as he agrees new deal at Old Trafford which will tie him to the club until he is 34 Wayne Rooney has agreed a new contract which will keep him at Manchester United until the end of 2019.
The deal, worth a club record £300,000 per week, will make the striker the best-paid player in English football history. It will be confirmed by the club this afternoon.
Rooney agitated for a move away from Old Trafford last summer when Chelsea were interested in signing him, but as Telegraph Sport revealed on January 25 Rooney has decided to commit his future to United.
Rooney has been United's best player in a disappointing season under David Moyes, but will be 34 at the expiration of his new contract.
