Murray crashes out of the US OpenDefending champion Andy Murray was knocked out of the US Open

As it was the first Grand Slam of his career, big things were expected of Andy Murray ahead of the US Open.
He quickly found his form, beating the likes of Dennis Istomin, to book his place in the quarter finals against Swiss number two, Stanislas Wawrinka.
The match was highly anticipated by the pundits, and American fans, and was set to be a match of really high quality. Unfortunately for Murray, Wawrinka had the higher quality.
The first set started as many may have predicted, a good high quality first set, which was won by a number of errors on Murray's side.
It was 5-4 in the first set, Murray to serve, and that is where the problems started for the Scot. After battling to stop Wawrinka capitalising on any of his break points, Murray just couldn't find the breakthrough required to get the set to 5-5.
Ultimately after a 15 minute game, Wawrinka won the first set 6-4, are lots of uncharacteristic Murray errors.
This wasn't wholly unusual, Murray has a history of starting matches slowly and Wawrinka was in the form of his career. With many people expecting a five set thriller anyway, nobody in the Murray camp was too worried yet.
However in the second and third sets things went from bad to worse for Murray, as he failed to even get a single break point during the whole game, and Wawrinka was getting plenty.
The second set was eventually 6-3 to Wawrinka and unfortunately for the defending champion, the third set was 6-2 to Wawrinka as well, making it game set and match to the Swiss number two
Murray's departure from the competition is the second real shock of the tournament even though Wawrinka is in the form of his life, after Federer's early exit.
Needless to say, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal are now the clear favourites.
